glue in grooves
If it's a styrene record, there's the chance that anything too strong would melt the record too... Possibly the worst condition record I ever found was a UK rocksteady single on Crab, it looked in nice shape until I flipped it over to see the Bert Kaempfert flexi disc someone had glued onto it. A lot of lighter fluid eventually got most of it out the grooves, but anything was going to be better than the flexi disc!

Discogs - paying Paypal or CC ?
I've sold a record on Discogs which played fine on my Technics, and had it returned because it jumped. I took it home and, right enough, on my Rega it did jump. Sometimes records play different on different set-ups. Which doesn't really help you...

Loose Joints "Is It All Over My Face" (West End) promo 45
wanted: LOOSE JOINTS "Is It All Over My Face" (West End) US 7" promo I've got the 12" but my crowd don't have the attention span (!) so looking for the 7" which, obviously, the real disco heads wouldn't touch with a barge pole! If you got one in a soul pack back in the early 80s, have a copy to re-home or can help me locate one, it would be very much appreciated. TA!

Can anyone identify this Psych Funk 45
Cool track - if you're feeling brave you could ask on the Waxidermy message board, sounds like the kind of thing Dante or the Memphix lads would know about...

Discogs seller: too good to be true?
Jason, can't quite remember Ellipsis was maybe 4,000 euros or make an offer. Looks like most of the big hitters are now sold - Junior McCants etc. Not surprising - money is easier to find than records like that...

Discogs seller: too good to be true?
Yikes, a few more big ticket items added. Can't imagine anyone listing these and nobody commenting!

Discogs seller: too good to be true?
Discogs seller Freestylemaniac either has the best records on the planet, or should be approached with caution. Ellipsis, Larry Clinton, JUNIOR McCANTS???? Not that I'm in the market for any of these, but anyone aware of these records residing in Germany? https://www.discogs.com/seller/freestylemaniac/profile

Freddie Lowe- "decisions" 10" Fnkfrd/wayne Acetate
Not sure that distinctive acetate smell ever really goes away. Even 60s acetates still give off that unique aroma... I remember a mate asking me if a 12" he was playing in a pub was an acetate or just a really heavy pressing. He gave it to me, and without even thinking I gave it a sniff. The looks of horror surrounding me... "Did that FREAK just SNIFF a record???!!!" I know now it's not considered socially acceptable behaviour...

Ray Terrace ¨you´ve Been Talking ´bout Me Baby Capitol
Amazing what's out there, and who had the foresight to choose different tracks to their US counterparts. Mik, you seen that South African Lou Lawton Nick Nack Paddy Whack on Scepter, with the weird looking propellor middle?! https://www.popsike.com/LOU-LAWTON-Knick-Knack-Patty-Whack-South-African-NM/260591291216.html

Not that I'm helping you here, but did you know there's two versions of this? The one on Nickel has flutes, the one on Act IV doesn't I seem to remember... Good luck, great tune.

Ebay Or Website?
It would strike me as a very strange business move if you had two copies of a rare record and sold them both at the same time on different sites - neither would reach their maximum potential. If it was the same 45 on both sites, he could sync them up so that the high bidder on either site could gazzump the other auction. But if the ebay auction finishes first, he's entered a legally binding contract with the winner. Unless he's using the ebay auctions to direct bidders to his own site, like free advertising - and will just end the ebay auctions early? Who knows and far be it for me to speculate. Although I just have in a wild and loose fashion...

Ebay - Accepted Price For 'offers'
It's a business that keeps making changes and demands on sellers which turns them away in droves. So profits fall, so they try to find other ways to make more money, like charging a 10% fee on the postage. So MORE people get pissed off and leave. And so it goes on. Discogs is the way forward - none of those random WTF auction madness results, but none of the crap either...
-
Ebay - Accepted Price For 'offers'
Who knows why ebay decide to cover everrything with yet more smoke and mirrors. Maybe if someone sees a seller accepted an offer of say 25% then the next seller won't try to sell it for such a high starting price, then ebay lose commission? Actually, if ebay change ANYTHING you can be fairly certain it's to benefit them... the only way I can see round this is to do a "sort by price: highest first" and your result will fall somewhere between other transparent prices you can see - so you can roughly deduce the price...
