Me too! Not been to a festival since 1977. Got 2 weekend tickets (for me and my sis) + camping + car parking for £150 off ebay last night. Result cos if i'd have gone through the official website it would have cost about £305! Really looking forward to Joe Bataan!
  3. For anyone who's interested, Joe Bataan is playing the Goodwood festival on Saturday 14th August, 2010.

I've paid a certain enlightened promoter in Euro's. I won't say who it is tho.
  5. Love it but then again I love loads of Joe's stuff.
  6. Whitby is £30.95 according to the Goldsoul website.

The problem is Simon, if a film doesn't use attention engaging artistic license, you end up with a documentary. I went to see 'Nowhere Boy' the story of John Lennon's adolescence recently and I thought it an excellent film but I couldn't tell you if it was historically correct or not . I googled a review of the film and according to the reviewer, there were some exaggerations but these were in some of the personal relationships rather than historical facts. As a film, Northern soul is bound to be full of minor inaccuracies, just hope that the dancers are not heading off to Wakefield Casino. P.S I tackled some American's about U-571 film and their answer was it was just a film. I replied, how would you feel if we made a film about how the British were the first people to land on the moon. They then saw why I was so miffed.
  14. Ha, forgot about the BRALT track. Have the 7 inch on picture disc somewhere.
  15. Personally, it's the tune that hits that part of the brain that sensual sex, fabulous food and Northampton Town scoring a 92nd minute winning goal does. Sometimes it may be an old favourite, it may also be a tune that is 'love at first hear', but whatever, you want to interperate that love, that spine tingling rush on hearing said tune by dropping everything and just dancing for the sheer joy of it all. Of course, and happily, we all have different tunes that call us to the dancefloor. So in answer to the question Miss Wasperella, it's the tune itself, although experiencing other people enjoying dancing to a tune can elevate it to a status it may not otherwise have enjoyed if just played at home.
  16. Yes, there is such a thing as the perfect Allnighter, It's the one you come away from thinking, THAT WAS BRILLIANT'.
  17. That's it in a nutshell for me too Bearsy. I'm open minded enough to enjoy a Motown night one week and a rare soul night the next, as long as I have enough room to dance. Spotted this number plate the other day........
  18. Bet you wish you hadn't asked now!
  19. Cracking post Ian. I love informative threads like this.
  20. Nice one, cheers!
  21. I think there's a big difference between giving a reason and justifying. I for one have loved reading everyone else's comments and the feelgood factor generated by those comments have been a major contribution to the success of the appeal.
  22. You only have to read Johnny's posts to see what a decent fella he is. He gave me a lift to Lifeline a while back and wouldn't take any money for the lift so more than happy to donate now. Fab gesture Pete, well done.

And that's 100% more soul than you'll hear on the 'music' show on the other side!
  24. I've done this drive but was distinctly underwhelmed. Thought the west coast of Britain would p*ss all over it.
