  4. Was at Glastenbury last weekend - bit of a promise to the daughter. Couldn't get near the Pyramid Stage for Stevie Wonder but what we did hear we thought was great. In general i was surprised how much i found that i enjoyed. Let the mrs and daughter do the Scissor Sisters, etc while i had a wander round. George Clinton was on the West Holts stage, as was Toots and the Maytals (Best act of the weekend for me) . Candi Staton was also performing. Also caught The Beat who were great but not too keen on Jerry Damars Spactial AKA Orchestra, missed Neville Staples though. Also enjoyed Ray Davies on Sunday.
  5. I attend quiet a few blues events as well and the same applys.

Doing a bit of tidying up at the weekend and came across an old record box. Wood/ cloth construction no hinges but was attached by cloth which is now detached. I have a vague recollection of a Soul Sourcer looking for old record boxes in a past thread but can't find it again! Its no good to me so if whoever was looking wants to PM me i'll stick it in the post foc, just cost of postage. Cheers Gary

Saw Ryan Shaw at Maryport Blues Festival last weekend and was totally blown away. Brilliant covers of Bobby Womack's 'looking for a love' and The Sharpee's 'do the 45' which i think is his new single. Not picked up the cd yet but if it's as good as his live performance it should be OK. Anybody else on here a fan?
  8. Ray Odis (i think) - Randy the newspaper boy on VIP Started to try and collect all the VIP releases at one time and ended up with this - Oh the joys of label collecting. Got an awful feeling it had something called 'Happy Ghoultide' on the other side. Must check when i get home.

One of the best.... if not the best
  13. Think they did about three. All in the market hall at Carlisle. Bit like an aircraft hanger except, because of the glass roof, it got light about four o'clock in the morning. Rumour at the time was that they did them because a series of local nighhters at the Cosmo were begining to take off and they didn't like competition! Surely not.
  14. Sorry! That'll be me Gary Evans / OkehGaz

  23. Was given a book to read recently, "My father and other working-class football heroes" by Gary Imlach. (Excellent book- highly recomended) However......... to cut a long one short. The authors father was a professional footballer back in the late 50's, (Forest, Derby, Bury) are a few of teams i can remember but he never saw his father play. In a quest to find some momentos of his fathers career, the books first chapter finds the author at some sort of football memorabelia/ programme show... and i quote. "Surely this wasn't a love of football, just nostalgia and a love of collecting, which chance or childhood might as easily have pointed towards model trains or Northern Soul" Is this really how outsiders view the scene?
