60's Club Soul & Motown
Thought about running something like this myself. This, for me at any rate, was what got me into the music in the first place. Reaction when i've talked about it with others was mixed. General feeling was that i might work as a one off thing but not on a too regular basis. I think it might but who knows.... Others felt that because everyone has these tracks at home (not sure they do anymore) so when they go out they want to hear something different. Some thought that it would appeal more to non-northern crowd I've mixed Otis, Wilson, James Brown, etc in northern spots and it works ok locally but it's not something i've tried outside of my comfort zone Personally i'd love to see it ..... keep me informed

Did Blackpool Mecca Play Bad Records?
Never got my head round Dr Buzzards Original Savannah Band "i'll play the fool". Think they also played "Cherchez La Femme" at one point. I know some people rated it but not for me i'm afraid Quiet liked DC LaRue - "cathedrals" at the time but havn't heard it for years now so might sound crap now I'll also put my hand up to buying the Exciters - reaching for the best but in my defence i was doing mobile disco's at the time Am i forgiven and will i get into soul heaven or be condemmed forever to burn in the disco inferno

and Now For Something Completely Different
Doing a bit of organising last night and played these for the first time in years. As the title says not northern soul and not really what i normally listen to but picked up eons ago as label fillers.Everyone must be familiar with the "Spell on you"even before the lager add but i've posted it up anyway Listening again with less biased ears i quiet like them. Especially the non-pc treniers! Anybody else? The Four Voices
Could be wrong but didn't this track and another by the same group/same label appear on the front page of Soul Bowl list for a short time? If so would have been about £5 or so! I'm sure i bought both but they moved on a long time ago Both were green label.

Curtis - How Can I Tell Her
If i remember correctly this was reviewed as a new release in "Blackbeat". The review contained label contact details, prices, etc and i sent away directly to the label, for a 7" and a 12", seems likely that loads others did as well. Think it appeared about the same time as OT Sykes-stone crush on you (Fun City) and just before the big 60's/70's split! Think the label had another couple of releases, the group name Harbour rings a bell and i recall a female vocal track but the name escapes me. Both nice sweet soul type records.
