  1. Exactly mate. I never planned anything until I got on stage then it would be the 1st record that I played just to compliment the last record from the previous set ,then went with what the mood of the place took me obviously flowing from one to the next never 100 mph to mid tempo , slowly but surely up or down or whatever way the dancing dictated. Sometimes 100 mph full set, sometimes 70,s sometimes mid tempo, more often than not a cross the board set but always dance floor dictated Steve
  2. Post deleted . Sorry Russell.. Steve
  3. Post deleted. Sorry Russell Steve
  4. The greatest end record since the Casino closed has got to be Terry Callier. Ordinary Joe. It was played to end the night at probably the best soul night ever. Saints. It was dedicated to the people that are not around anymore including my Mum who passed away on the Friday 20 th December night that Saints was on. Ironically 23 years ago next Thursday. Barry. Flanny. Mark & Annette take a bow. Steve
  5. Just added it to my home screen. Thanks for the information Steve
  6. R.I.P. Nancy. . The end of our love is forever etched on my heart, memories of the Casino . Steve
  7. I played it once or twice at Winsford. Steve
  8. Exactly why you need a sound engineer or equipment supplier that knows what to do when the DJ,s start messing around with the controls Steve
  9. Acoustics change a lot over the course of the night. Winsford was a classic example. Record bar at the back was divided off from the main hall with massive curtains which when closed absorbed so much sound it was mad, plus when the venue filled up, again massive sound absorption. Hence the need for a sound engineer. Plus ban the DJ,s from messing around with the controls on the mixer decks, that makes a big difference Steve
  10. How can you start a DJ set with records that you have planned. Follow your heart. Not a plan. Steve
  11. Looking good my friend. Looking good. Soon be sorted
  12. Mike. You didn't include the price you want for it. Steve
  13. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. That's the tree decorating finished, completely new colours this year to match the newly decorated lounge. Steve
  14. Thanks Mike. I personally think this is Linda Jones finest vocal performance, she effortlessly covers the whole spectrum of notes, simply stunning. I did hear the Ojays version years before Linda Jones but as good as it is, Linda,s tops it. I used to play it out regularly and to a fantastic reaction and I was always getting asked who the fcuk was it. Steve
  15. Peter. Good afternoon Get in touch with Chris Anderton on here or via his website Midas touch He's a genuine guy with a true passion for soul music and he's one of the few guys who pay for your collection there and then, not when the records have been sold on. And he will call at your house. Highly recommended mate. Steve
  16. Hope this works. Had to share this. So funny VID-20171126-WA0000.mp4
  17. Thanks Martyn. Can you stack them up to make a proper one. 😁 before anyone says anything I'm only joking. Very nice mate. But do they make you look like Paul Newman ? 😂😂😂 Great to see you and the fridge magnet model last night, always a pleasure. X
  18. That fantastic. Had the pleasure of seeing Eddie live a few times. When he did Lowton it was the best live show I have ever had the privilege to see plus got to meet him. Top man. Steve
  19. Ed. I would imagine that some only got a UK issue. Wasn't it emi/ Stateside then TMG / Stateside ? People who are a lot more knowledgeable than me will put you right Steve
  20. That's one amazing reply. Love it. Steve
  21. Welcome to Soul Source. 150 tunes. That's approximately 6 DJ sets if you go to a nighter that's all your records with 2 maybe 4 hours to go. Thats if every single one got played. What do you do then . Go home . No didn't think so. Open your ears and take in everything this amazing music has to offer, I'm still hearing new records after 43 years of going to nighters. I don't like every one but now and again something will get played out that has me rushing to find out what it is. The most important thing is that you enjoy the journey Steve
  22. OMG. That bollocks. The world has gone mad Steve
  23. Steve. Thanks for the comments. As I said we couldn't police the Djs, just my point it was up to them. If I was still promoting I would definitely have a mix of young and older DJ,s behind the decks and like Winsford give unknowns a chance because that's how I started. Back in the 70,s ,75 to be exact aged 16 at the Casino I didn't know anything about original/ bootleg things, so yes I like 1000,s of others bought what where just records at the time. Some original mostly boots but I didn't DJ or aspire to at the time. Knowledge and wisdom are things that you get with age. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. The kids of today have access to information beyond our wildest dreams at there age, so why play what they know are obviously bootlegs. if they want to DJ theres plenty of tunes actually cheaper to buy than most bootlegs these days. If there's money to be made at anything there will always be people willing to take advantage. That will never go away and I don't have a answer mate. Wish I did Steve
  24. Trust your well Gotta trump card you mate with Pembrokeshire and at least two hours closer I want to live there, but can't get a engineering job , can't afford to retire yet. Steve
