Yes, everybody knew each other, you'd see the same faces at all of those venues. There was probably only 500 of us into the scene then in the whole country who went to nighters. Great times.!

Well I only ever saw 2 or 3 scoots there from 79 till the end.. BUT... In the winter of 1980 , I went to Wigan on a lambretta. I picked my mate up from Pelsall near Walsall (Timmy Thacker). , and in the freezing cold, we rode all the way up the M6, 80 odd miles , and it even started to snow and sleet . we were going flat out at 55 mph and had to stop at every services else we'd have froze to death. My scoot was a 1969 GP125 id bought for £50 dragged out of a neighbours shed.. we had no AA, no tools or mechanical knowledge , but we made it ... Went down a one way street in Wigan ( the wrong way) and cars flashing us , then got to the Casino, we leaned the scoot against the wall on the side of the Casino cus the stand was broke. I remember the place was nearly empty, just a couple of hundred there, it was a crap night really, and the next morning, my bike was still there, and we had to bump start it outside . The exhaust cracked as we got on the M6 and it was deafening all the way home and losing power.. nearly got wiped out by a few lorries, but made it home... I can still picture Timmy on the back with his leather bomber jacket shivering. we were only 18 and it was one of the madder things ive done.... But we did it... and every time i see Timmy , he says "remember when we went to Wigan on your scooter mick ! "

I did that too , I hadn't been back since the Last night in 81, and in 1988 I was passing Wigan and went and sat on the wall , felt gutted ..

Just watched the dvd . As with all of us on here, been waiting for this for years... Having been a regular at Wigan for the final years, and also in the 90s when it was underground, I saw an advert asking for 60s cars to be part of the film a few years back. being an owner of a karmann ghia , i jumped at the chance , and ended up spending 2 days filming at Bury. that was the most fantastic experience in itself just watched the film and this is my take. was totally transported to the era. Could touch it, feel it, smell it, the young guy finding his way in life, with the guidance of the older lads, be it good or bad. the passion.. intensity.. nothing else mattered . its all pretty fecked up when you look back but wouldn't change a thing.. Bought a tear to my eye, a warm glow, the story line didnt really matter, but being transported into an era that could never come back meant so much.. those days could never be recreated, but the film captures the time superbly . Probably the best youth culture film ever made...

I kept several from my Casino days, for years . I remember loads of repros doin the rounds in the 90s, and you couldnt tell the difference from the originals ,They were perfect copies. Theyre just an embroidered patch at the end of the day. I gave all mine away . I bet half the "original" ones on ebay are those repros .

Ive just been reading all these stories, fascinating stuff !! All scenes and hobbies have "loveable rogues" characters good and bad. , but then again, the world would be a dull place if we were all the same As its that time of year again.... if you're still out there and reading this post Mr Soussan....
