News: Helen Pereira - Queen Of The Go-Go
Wonderful post Pep for a wonderful woman. Last time we saw you was @ the 100 club Ray Pollard gig (1990 ?) just before your w/ender...Helen asked me if we could put Mick Vickers(who"d travelled down with you) up for the night ...which for us was no problem..just that Helen was asking me just when Ray was singing "The Drifter"...always remember saying "Yeah I'm sure he can stay but ask me after Rays finished !" Have posted on other threads about memories from Lafayette but also remember you guys from Brum Locarno/Wigan and of course your Wolvo shops Wishing you strength in the coming days Cheers Paul Woosnam

San Francisco/california Record Shopping
I was all day in Rookys in Janruary and bought three 45s ! I actually bought more LPs there this time round. But they're always getting "new" records so you never know. Also they know prices so most high end northern stuff goes straight on the bay. Also may be worth asking to see Dicks "good box" which he keeps behind the counter. Also SBOY Amoeba and Rasputin Records (downtown San Francisco store) have stores in Berkley, which is a short ride away accross the bay on the BART, and I've found their prices to be less than the same stores in San Fran Cheers Paul PS jinx74 is a San Francisco resident/record dealer and a member on here so maybe worth a PM

San Francisco/california Record Shopping
Hi SBOY If you like slower/laid back grooves I can reccomend the Elbo Room on Tuesday nights. Its situated in the Mission district 647 Valencia St between 17th & 18th. A lovely old bar and no door tax....... DJs playing (mainly) 60s down/mid tempo soul from original vinyl. Also the Lipo Lounge in China town has DJs on Sunday nights in the basement playing 70s rare grooves/2step thru to 80s boogie tunes As Golden 101 has said Rookeys on Haight (between Filmore & Webster) and Amoeba are always worth a look.....just accross the road from Rookeys towards upper Haight is Groove Merchant Records (ask to see 45s boxed up behind the counter) It s a great town and I"m sure you'll have a fantastic time Cheers Paul
