  1. Aye you lot in the corner filled your boots on the Saturday morning after Th'Orwell, hoovering up the spare copies on t'internet didn't you Late last year i was lucky enough to bag a couple of copies and put them on me site at £100 each and they sold immediately!!!!!!!!!!!! Found another a month or so later and that went even quicker - must have been a world record - went on me site (cough www.soulmusic.co.uk) and it sold literally within minutes!!!!! Gotta disagree with you though Kirsty as I think it sounds fabulous at home too Dave - Are you and Manny looking to reissue 'You happened to me' in the near future...............maybe with 'Just loving you' on the B side!!!!!! Cheers Steve

  3. It may not be 'Northern' but KENNY LYNCH - MOVIN' AWAY (HMV 1967) has had more than it's fair share of spins on the 70's/Crossover scene! Fairly good (not great) record imvho although i've never been keen on the Righteous Bros style break in the middle of it! Always had a soft spot for Keanya Collins too, although listening to that now it sounds more Chicago Crossover than Northern.....and it was played 15 years before the term was invented! Rest are shite imvho tho Steve
  4. Good thread Ian It's funny, I'd dug the 45 out this week for a spin at The Orwell this Saturday! Another uptempo side of theirs that's currently getting spins in the 70's & Crossover clubs is 'I told you so' - that's brill as well! Cheers Steve
  5. Hiya Chris Checking me sold page on me web site (www.soulmusic.co.uk), i sold it recently for £125 T'other side is fantastic too! Hope this helps? Cheers Steve
  6. I have a spare copy of this brill crossover 45 It's in fantastic shape EXCEPT it's ever so slightly off centre. Label and Vinyl are in excellent condition. To get it playing perfect you need to place it on the deck and move it a couple of millimeters (the exact details are written on the cover to help you get it perfect!!!!) Full refund guarenteed if you're not happy!!!! Looking for a swap of similar magnitude in a Northern or Modern stylee (circa £200-£250) If you're interested please let me know what you have for trade? Cheers Steve

  10. I was looking at the sellers past sales of FT and it looks like the first one he sold was for $600 as he didn't list it correctly, so someone got a bargain. It's now advertised as 'Northern classic etc etc etc' so everyone is now seeing it, hence the $1550+ bids.............

They would of course all be exempt Nick I meant corporate venues catering for the Top 500 oldies - There's nowt wrong with this at all BUT you only want to hear Frankie Beverley etc once a night at peak time don't you?
  20. Steve Plumb replied to a post in a topic in All About the SOUL
Think i said this on the last thread BUT at The Orwell, we are a 'One spin a night' venue! If a DJ had brought a specific tune to play and someone else played it before they got on, he/she would be expected to 'find another un'. This works at smaller events like ours, especially because all the DJ's tend to be there all night and listen to everything being played! It's not rocket science is it? All credit to ALL soul events that have this policy, of which there are lots! As a word of advice for the huge corporate oldies events that have been blighted by this problem (i.e. DJ's turning up minutes before their set and repeating tunes played only minutes earlier), i'd have a system of at least jotting down what you'd played on a pad next to the decks, so the next DJ can see what not to play!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's not rocket science either! Only my opinion of course! Cheers Steve
  21. Certainly does Cliff, along with Dee Edwards, Bobby Sanders et al
  22. Many apologies Andy, I looked everywhere for it, then realised I'd sold it at the last Orwell. Really sorry! Come on people, anyone got an original for sale for Andy? Cheers Steve
