  1. The seller on Discogs from Germany gave his name as Vas on his replies to my queries , the guy he said he was selling the Rarities for was a friend of his in NY called Paul that is as much as I know apart from heard a couple of guys have not received the 45's they purchased , so we wait and see I guess .... Hope it works out for all concerned especially as serious sums of money involved ..
  2. Hi Greg, Yes thought it was a bit suspect I had a lucky escape by the sound of it , but hearing of another couple buyers well ? will see how it pans out , but that was the info he passed on to me ref NY and the seller / friend he mentioned by first name only, but tried doing more to look into it before parting with any cash , and yes sure I have sold a few through the dealer myself , cheers for the input ,, Dave
  3. Hi, Just adding to forum , I was in contact with this seller ref purchasing one of those 45s which was the Jd Bryant and my offer was 5500 euros and we battled back and forth he wanted 6000 and then it was sold next I knew, I have been watching to see if any feedback was received on his Discogs but none as yet on all the big sale items I,e, Junior McCants, etc , he told me he was selling on behalf of a friend in New York who needed money for a project ( he did say sellers first name which I won't divulge on here ) I had no reason to disbelieve him but as you may well know you always get a bit concerned on big items, and a few years back was stung on a Margaret Little 45 so hence my apprehension and with such high value items all in one place , as said he is a regular Discogs/Ebay seller so has a history of sorts , but none to the extent of such prized Soul 45s , that was why I hung off a bit and decided doing a bit of groundwork and emails with the seller to clarify this situation , as we all would be apprehensive on parting with such funds , have done many deals before but nonetheless still makes yer miss a beat , so I too would be interested in any follow up althou respect privacy in such matters, did it slip through my fingers perhaps i'll never know - Dave
  4. Hi RobbK , Cheers and agree would doubt a boot never seen one of that particular 45 , ( althou understand why people query it nowadays as everything seems to get booted ) but as you say could be etched due to local pressing plant , but I suppose everyone expects to see Bell sound , Arp, or Audio Matrix but not on all in my experience , I hold quite a few early ones inc rare that being the case on some , thanx for the input - Dave
  5. Hi, Just checked my 2 x copies of this 45 , the Issue and the rarer Issue / dj copy promo of YNMAGT / GHYL , mine are both stamped L8OW 7990- 1A and L8OW 7989 - 1B and GHYL side which is the dj wlp side has H-55509 on both copies , there are NO other Matrix marks at all , and both mine are originals , hope that helps you , these are ALL MACHINE STAMPED on mine, I know there are certain later Motown stripes 45s issued in 80ts and later but these are easy to see the difference, but cannot recall seeing a Eugene Remus boot issue ? cheers Gilly
  6. Yep I went to the last all nighter at the Cats and remember it being a great night and so so hot Inside , small dancefloor and the late DJ Blue Max which I remember selling a few 45s to when he later did a spot in Kidderminser at the Glades with Steve Russell and Mr tee ( Francis ) , yeah great memories from Temple Street k,t,f, Gilly
  7. Stevie, Yes indeed I looked back at his previous auctions and he has sold MULTIPLES of some very Rare Northern 45's with lookalike labels and selling for ££-£££ , they look ok at first glance but then another Larry Clinton turns up ummmmmmmmm!! if only, but hey when they are FAKE that is EASY , PPL pay the money and he is rolling them out , mind you in saying that there have been some terrible boots/etc over the years as we know, but his at least look the part I guess ok,but agreed the money they fetch amazes me Gilly
  8. Good Luck Elaine , long live Northern Soul

  11. Well just watched the Film Northern Soul and quite enjoyed it albeit maybe a touch on the drugs and crazed side of the scene, but myself after 40+ years collecting loving aspects of the scene and knowing just how touchy Soulies can get , i.e, we all have our own memories and takes on the scene and venues, we all could compile lists on the top sounds and favs which should of been there in the film, overall I think the film in condensing a period in time is always difficult as I said we all had our own versions of events,it had flickers of either things we did or knew people who you could associate that to and that is what makes us feel somewhat a part of it,of course the tracks used in the film were memorable for one reason or another , ( bet we could all think of many more )we wanted to be included, clothes, record lists in post and waiting for the ones you ordered to drop through your letter box ( still do ), yeah remember playing out 45s at home getting ready to leave for the allnighter/Dayer and building up that rush it gave you,I enjoyed it simply because I LOVE NORTHERN SOUL and that feeling has never subsided in all my years I went to Wigan first time Nov 74 last time 79 as I was away on service alot, my memories of the Catacombs last night, Queens Hall so 1974 was relevant for me , just wanted to share a slice of my thoughts, if you have been around I guess you will feel we all have enough stories to fill a book etc , Time Marches On but it will never walk out of my life for sure... Dave G
  12. Steve, Think you'll find various sellers always have different Rare 45's as they often sell them on behalf of a Third party who use them knowing they get a good wide Soul audience, and something I myself have done in the past alike many others I guess, and particularly some of the Rarer 45's do dry up for a while then surface elsewhere, just my take Steve , but as a collector seller myself over 40 years experience that is my view , Dave G

  16. Paul yes and get exactly what you mean about vinyl collecting especially Northern Soul and I guess most Soulies go through the same thoughts and myself have been collecting since about 1972 and got to have etc etc , even back then paying £5 for some 45's which in relative to my wages then was a lot to buy but seemed to do it every week and then I let a large collection go after 25-30 years of collecting, but alas the Northern bug was still there loved the music and started again , I guess nowadays thou buying rare Northern and Soul is a very expensive game as you know and there is NEVER a end to it and as you said addictive , many people would associate with that train of thought , today I still buy and collect and indeed sell to fund others , and this is what many Northern Soul people do , I know one day I will sell again so is it a waste of time ?? or that craving ?? both I guess, but must admit have always enjoyed it whatever and to that end get satisfaction owning various 45's but as I said it is a Endless game unless you are a lottery winner most people know that , but to end yes see your point and one which I no doubt will come to myself again , and there is a joy to selling also .... life goes on and we must enjoy it , k,t,f, Gilly
  17. yes Pete but as we know as I said to Daved , sometimes you get surprised by how much and much depends on time place especially Ebay , High or Low could be any of these depending on bidders as we all too often see , but £10.00 is a good start for that , Dave
  18. Well in respect to these being pressings vary but as high as £30+ in Ex cond which I know you ain't gonna retire LOL!! but to be honest it is time and place sometimes they go well other times not, but nonetheless I believe a very collectable label with some titles hard to find and those about in collectors hands ..
  19. Joe yes indeed a few OOTP early ones are quite desirable and fetch a few quid , Velvets, Frankie Beverley, C.Douglas , Ben Aiken, Patti Young are some tougher ones to find .... Dave G
  20. Thank you Russ , appreciate link
  21. Cheers SoulStu , yeah must admit some are not so good but just collecting as a part of the history mainly OOTP,SOUL SOUNDS, BJD, MAGIC which I am putting together with the last lot needed is about 14 x 45's on OOTP, Bit of a job tracking some down , Soul Fox must admit hold none , but fair few on Soul Galore, Karen Young has that beat but a bity poppy but appreciate your offer , the quest goes on , I do collect originals you know the routine , collect , sold and start again LOL!! but as you know ref boots some go for prices which amaze !! the Duke Browner Gold just sold on ebay £185 ? blimey great oldie but if people want them and that is what happens , oh well that is the strange world of Northern Soul !!!! Gilly
  22. Cheers Missing link yeah thank you only guide I had was the Manships guide to pressing boots but not all were in that one ... Dave G
  23. Soul Sounds presses I hold , will put up OOTP Presses later in week , thanx to all for info ... Dave G
  24. Thanx Dave and appreciate the photo's , at minute I need the above I listed to complete the OOTP Cat list needing 14 of the 54 pressed inc white presses, but not as easy as one thinks , all those I need are on the coloured shooting star label design, just trying to put all the early boot presses together like BJD,MAGIC, SOUL SOUNDS which just needing to complete the OOTP , part of NS history whether some like it or not but as we know the early days they were our source of hearing these and many lists pushed these out ISC , and C.K, Etc, yes remember Queens Hall Leeds 74 selling them too slightly cheaper prices LOL!!! Cheers for your input .. Dave G
  25. Cheers Dave Appreciate the info scan ...
