  7. Sadly miss Avant La Zizique, they had incredible stuff, and if they liked you would close the store and cook lunch for you in the back, never had any other store owner do that for me!
  8. Neither Pete!! Original is an LP only track by Cat Stevens if you can believe it, from the "Matthew and Son" lp, all 3 are from 1967
  9. Do you know the version by the Legends Pete, really rate it too
  10. Great version and a stunning mix of unreleased, thanks big-time Pete
  11. Would love to hear that other version Pete, I have a John Andrews and think it's one of the best UK soul 45s going but intrigued to hear a different take of the song

    Have a spare clean demo
  16. A special award to our good friend Harvey Scales: Scales received national recognition for co-writing Billboard Hot 100 chart-topping single for Johnnie Taylor, "Disco Lady". "Disco Lady" was the very first platinum single in the history of the Recording Industry Association of America, selling over two million copies. It was certified platinum on April 22, 1976. As a result, Scales is the first songwriter of a platinum single in America.
  17. Boba said: One thing I like to do is count the number of grooves in each record Sounds fun I agree, but most of mine have one (continuous) groove on each side so you should find it doesn't actually take that long......
  18. There's 3 45's by the Rice Bros on Power-house, all featuring Little Howard Rice - the "12 year old genius"! Think one of them actually shares a label # with Heartache Souvenirs
  19. Martin is an excellent guy - last time there ended up talking to him for a good hour about the likes of Jackie Shane who used to play live nearby a lot, the Mark III on Canadian Quality I had that he'd not seen before, etc, when it was time to leave he wouldn't take a penny for the 45 I'd pulled, always wish him well when I play it.

  21. Have been to Vals close to a hundred times over the years, slim pickings these days but always a good way to spend a day out of NYC, best thing ever from his regular shelves was a stone mint Hyperions sitting in a marked Chattahoochee section for all of $20 (before he used price guides), nowadays just get oddball stuff and shoot the breeze w Val and Chuck while wondering if the layers of dust and cat hair everywhere can possibly get any thicker!
  22. Doubt you'd get too many sellers who'd give one up for that, the last one saw go through eBay was $225 in January
  23. https://www.nytimes.com/2012/02/19/arts/music/jimmy-sabater-master-of-boogaloo-dies-at-75.html Never got to see him play live, very sorry to read this, just dug out his "Times are changin" 45, epic, RIP Jimmy
  24. Who the hell takes "2,000 tracks" out to DJ, that's just the sign of an insecure DJ not believing in his own ability to pick out a quality balanced set, find the longer you've been doing records absolutely the l.e.s.s. you need to carry out the door as you know what works plus hopefully have a personal sound people are coming to hear, take a few extras in case your set runs longer or someone else plays one or three of yours out earlier but that'll do it. (ps not saying Colin - or anyone specific does this - just a bit in disbelief as to that comment. Although always good to know you have Abba's Greatest Hits on cd if someone comes up with the usual comedy request...)
