Had the Underworld 7" & 12" test press so decided to sell the 7". Was stuck in my sales box for months falling in price, started off at £100 & reduced it to £50 & couldn't shift it so traded it with Sam for a copy of Jeff Smith - The Hidden Secret. Quite pleased with the swap as Jeff Smith now fetching about£150+ & Sam still had the Skip Mahoney in his sales box for £40 recently.
  3. Well how do you expect them to pack records like this

Kissing your sister's considered the real thing in Steve M's Derbyshire village
  5. Vastly overpriced IMO but what the hell, if Don Gardner's currently over £7000 in J M's auction who are we to judge? Here's the link to the disc in question if any of you want to buy it https://cgi.ebay.com/DEE-HARVEY-Old-School-...7QQcmdZViewItem Will post up some soundclips in a bit. Mart...

Take it you mean the magazine & not the record. Last months was issue 76.
  9. Hi Alan & welcome to the site Quite a nice wants list you've posted up & i wish you luck with them. Been searching for the Solid Gold Revue - Love Traffic album for a while myself. Quite good innit. Must say i was a bit suprised to see the price of the Dee Harvey CD too. Always nice if new members post up an introduction, the links here /index.php?showforum=44 Thanks, Mart...

Hi Dave, Loving You Is All I Want To Do was released in 1979 on Cotillion but the serial no is 45000.
  11. Edited out the link. Only just been on his site & think it's best to remove it from here. Thanks for bringing it to our attention guys, appreciate it. Mart...
  12. Couple of dealers had e'm at Prestatyn Pete but they reckoned they didn't even know where they came from originally.
  13. Here Here, top post Tabs Been saying exactly the same for years. Think it's too late now for the UK Northern scene & the UK Modern scene's fast heading the same way. Noticed at last weekends Prestatyn weekender that most of the younger crowd were in the commercial soul room & the big difference between that room & the other rooms was the smiles on peoples faces as folks in the other rooms seemed to take it all far too seriously. You only had to see the reaction of Sean Chapman when he was DJ'ing in the commercial room to prove this point. Was talking to Sean on Monday morning & he said it was his most enjoyable spot ever. I think part of the problem is the words Northern & Modern & the refusal of a lot of the punters on each scene to accept each other. Classic examples of this are the way some modern fans look down on northern punters & call them silly names like normans & dinosaurs & the way some northern punters look down on modern fans with silly comments like disco & nightclub music. At the end of the day we're all fans of Soul music & the sooner both sides realise that the better for the good of the UK soul scene in general.
  14. E mailed the seller earlier asking if they were legal re issues & got this reply back. This is a limited edtion re-issue and I have no reason to thinl its not all legal and above board. I am told the 2 tracks are put together on a promo disc for an independent record company. Thanks for the interest Funny thing is though, our friend who cannot be named on here for fear of being sued has allegedly being doing this for over 30 years & getting away with it. Was talking to a couple of record dealers at the weekend & nobody seems to know where this current crop of boots are from but they're not from the usual suspects

Aggreed Terry Had some great nights at Bretby & will take the happy memories with me till the day i die. Loved DJ'ing in the Modern room & i still say the sound system you put in there was the best on the soul scene ever Best night? The night Colin Curtis was on was a good un even though he was about 3 hours late but the standout night for me was the night it clashed with the kings hall nighter. You, Cliff Dale & myself were the only DJ's in't Modern room & we did about 3 hours each but the crowd just went for it. Remember the night when the girl in the thin white dress was dancing in front of the uv light Met some great people & some real characters in both rooms. Mart...

If you all think that's bad just look what somebody's done to poor old Stan & Ollie https://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=...aurel+and+hardy PS. Contains some "adult" language.
  19. Quite funny this as quite a few of the folks on this thread who are slagging off John Legend are on the Amy Whinehouse thread saying how good they think her "Rehab" publicity stunt is. No comparison IMO. I'm not saying Save Room is the best record ever made, far from it but it ain't that bad. Now picture this scenario. JL chose not to release Save Room & it lied in the vaults for years until some enterprising DJ or record dealer stumbled on it & cut it onto an acetate & stuck a Motown artists name on it. Not as far fetched as it sounds with the Stormy connection. End result - Northern monster. Seen it happen before haven't we
  20. Saw a mate get offered £100 for the boot a while ago & he turned it down Sort of thing that goes for silly money on e bay if 2 folks get in a bidding war.
  21. Got a Spar "re-press" with Heartbeat - Bill Purcell on the b side you, or anyone else for that matter can have for £20 inc uk p&p. PM me if you want it. Failing that if you must have a 1st issue there's a lovely mint white demo in JM's auction.
  22. Bloody hell Simon! Post up any more like that & i'm off down the pub

Here's a little clue for you Sean. Neil had a record box at Clifton Hall with flashing lights on it.
  24. Hey up Simon, Always makes me laugh does this topic. 1 minute everybody's saying get it back underground then the next minute when attendances at venues start to drop & nights shut down everybody's discussing how to get new face's & younger fans into the scene to keep it going. Best thing is we get a few new faces into a club & what happens? We all slag e'm off & call e'm bloody "handbaggers" Make's my blood boil at times Sorry if this sounds like a bit of a rant but i've just had some Jehova's witnesses at the front door & boy did they get it. Don't think they'll be back for a while
