Chairman of the Board - Manchester Show
Eddie Curtis left them after the second album in 1970. The members all released solo albums in 1972 in a co-ordinated way, so these shows seem a run up to that.

RIP Thomas Bell and thanks for a huge contribution to Soul music.

Are many people on here NOT record collectors?
I collect only via CDs & legal downloads not vinyl anymore, which I stopped and sold fifteen years ago. I buy every month and look out for old and new Soul music continually. I enjoy my still growing library as a personal streaming cloud service via a great service called Astiga. I have over 80000 songs in the Soul library with many duplicate songs from CDs removed. Lots of fun to put on shuffle!

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A MEMBER ON HERE ???
I've had multiple profiles here since the early days. I cannot even remember now why I different earlier logins to this one. It blurs between the start here and the Keeping The Faith group that I was in from near its start. Before that there was a Yahoo email group that ran from very early in the Internet era, I'm guessing that was maybe as far back as mid 1990s.

DJs at Blackpool Mecca 69/70
One of the very early DJs used to post in the earlier KTF group nearly two decades ago. He was in Canada by then and listed loads of early NS plays pre CC & IL (before the term NS existed of course). If I remember correctly his name was Ron but I could be wrong on that.

New 60's British Soul CD Compilations of interest
Hi all, great releases recently with new to CD from the masters Northern Soul classics. First to highlight is the new 4CD set from Cherry Red: https://www.cherryred.co.uk/product/gotta-get-a-good-thing-goin-the-music-of-black-britain-in-the-sixties-4cd-book-set/ and then the recent one by Rubble: https://www.amazon.co.uk/British-Soul-Power-Various/dp/B0B5RH3GCS Before that there was this one from Cherry Red too: https://www.cherryred.co.uk/product/i-love-to-see-you-strut-more-60s-mod-rnb-brit-soul-and-freakbeat-nuggets-3cd/ There are other releases too. There is some duplication of course and lots of tracks not of interest here. Sequel did a couple of CDs with some of the songs from masters and before that Goldmine had them off disc, but it's great to have high quality releases and with lots not on CD properly before ever such as Jimmy Cliff's 'Waterfall' as just one example Lots to enjoy for those who like British made Soul and related music of the 60s.

Herman Lewis
I went back to all my Groovesville and related CDs yesterday and nothing jumped out as obviously using the same backing. I eventually sold my Groovesville book as it was just collecting dust, but if there is anything to find - I'm sure it is covered in there.

Sam Gooden - Impressions RIP
What a vocal grouo. Beautiful, positive music. Those harmonies. Thank you.

Just In - Masterpieces Of Modern Soul Vol 6 - Kent Cd
Preorder arrived yesterday and been on repeat ever since. Wonderful as always. This volume seems particularly good, but I probably always say that.

Michael Henderson RIP
Another great tune. RIP

In reply to the CD question, it was on Goldmine's Northern Soul Fever voume 3 off vinyl.

Preorder - All Turned On! Motown Instrumentals - Kent CD
Looking forward for this, looks nicely done. Even knowing the music, there's something about a great compilation. The usual high production standards I'm sure.

Ronnie Spector Passed Away
Wonderful music, a full life. Back musically which was excellent. 'You Baby' gives me chills still as it plays now.

Poll: Version Battles - Hurt So Bad
I've always known Little Anthony's version from the album. It's an immense Teddy Randazzo production. But more than that, I've always felt there's a haunting element to the vocal that lifts it up further. It may of come naturally to Little Anthony, it may not of been intended - but there are nuances in his performance of this in that version on the album, that I can still recall and were they on replaying this morning. I like other versions, the Delfonics is good as said. Always want to hear Willie Hutch or Baby Washington, but it's the Little Anthony version that's stayed with me.

Sonny Turner (Former Lead Singer of the Platters) RIP
Those 60s Platters tracks are wonderful and still sound great. Sad news. Thanks for the music.

James Mtume passes
https://www.theguardian.com/music/2022/jan/10/james-mtume-jazz-and-funk-musician-dies-aged-75 Wonderful music. No introduction needed here I'm sure, but a good start to his many contributions was put together by Expansion Records: https://www.discogs.com/release/815992-Various-The-Best-Of-Mtume-Lucas Also, Adam White (writer on Motown) mentioned R. Dean Taylor may of passed on Twitter but I haven't seen any follow-up from him on it since.
