  1. Is Bobby Patterson a new found recording or is it 'recipe for peace', which I've had for years on 45? If it's 'recipe of love' what's it like, sound clip? Cheers Sutty
  2. I've had 2 copies and neither had that problem, just checked my current one, plays all good, no indents cheers Sutty
  3. Nick the record (djfriendly) has a copy for sale on here in sales or on his website https://www.djfriendly.co.uk/ cheers Sutty
  4. Dave, Fisher Price portables are the finest - rewire the dc power socket on the side as headphones (same socket size) and they sound better than a soundburger - really, i've had both. Never had any issues with any record ever played on it and the batteries last forever. But really, get on my level and get the accessory as well! ))))))) Sutty
  5. Guy i know was riding home from his work and got knocked off his pushbike by a car at a junction. The older couple got out and checked he was ok, said "we only live up the road, come in and clean yourself up and make sure you're alright". While the wife made him a cup of tea and washed the dirt off his jacket, he was chatting to the husband, talking about how he was into records, and the guy went "oh, i've got some records from years ago if you want to have a look". He ended up doing a deal and going back and buying the lot. Sold 3 of the records for £1,500 the next week and paid his rent for the next year on the rest, and still kept a load for himself. It does happen, just not to ME! lol cheers Sutty
  6. As far as a unique impassioned performance it's hard to beat this IMO cheers Sutty

I didn't think I liked any of Ian's productions (nothing personal, just didn't do anything for me) until I heard and bought this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lkuT117FQDE
  8. I just had some UK clown not posting for 3 weeks and when I chased him up politely, he said he was waiting for his new stock of mailers. Then he changed the status to shipped 7 days ago. It arrived today... in a reused old mailer, dated last Thursday, he posted 4 days after his shipping notice. It was posted 2nd class from his workplace in Manchester so it cost him nothing in P&P after he charged me 1st class signed for shipping. I've got some other clown from the states who charged me $14 shipping and it cost $3.44 on the package, the record is described as VG+ and it sounds like a pan of bacon is being fried in the background and is covered in marks. and they make out like you're a bad customer when you complain! cheers Sutty
  9. If you're looking for new vocals over old riddims you're a lot better off buying some of the great Peckings 45's by Bitty McLean, Lady Lex, Peter Hunningale, Courtney John et all. They are at least rocksteady singers and some of their 45's are miles better than Stephanie McKay in production, ideas, talent and inspiration. SM isn't a bad record, it's just vastly inferior to others out there IMO. cheers Sutty
  10. To be honest, that makes it clear you're getting into something you don't know enough about. Without Boundaries was Fish's event and the music policy was nothing like what you're asking for, they played upfront new releases, 90s, Y2K soul and house music, philly, etc, with a small amount of 'crossover' when they had a 2nd room, and I don't think i've ever heard a northern tune played there; and it finished quite a few years ago. Completely different scene to the one you're trying to appeal to. You need to go out and attend a few events and decide what you want to do, or instead of just booking random DJ's you've never heard, look for a co-promoter who does know the DJ's you're looking for and do it together IMO. Good luck but you sound like you might come a cropper if you're not careful, cheers
  11. Good story. Mine was kind of similar in a way in that it was handed down, but I got it all at once - a bunch of motown and beatles 45's and a dansette from my Nan. I still count the copy of 'tears of a clown' as my first ever record and still have it, and have memories of listening to the top 40 in the front room with my dad and that track being played on the top 40 through the monogram, and loving it, and holding the mic of my dad's reel-to-reel up to the speaker and everyone having to be really quiet while it was being recorded off the radio. I then listened to it on repeat so when I got given the record and player I was majorly excited. Many years later I was regaled with stories of 'the casino' by kids 2/3 years older than me that went and brought back cassettes of last Saturday nights sounds recorded on those mono tape recorders left in front of the speakers, Monday dinnertime was sitting around listening to these tapes from the older kids. To be honest, most of it was people talking and clapping, and I wasn't taken with the music that much at all, sounded like a right mess apart from the odd track - but I hear certain records now and they just take me back to that time immediately. Not that I want to go back there thanks very much cheers Sutty
  12. indeed, don't know why I put Walker seeing as her name on the 45 label I was looking at when i posted lol
  13. Thought it might be a little too late although it has the sound - when was it recorded do you know? I know the 12" e.p. that came afterwards was 70's, but they were old recordings with additional instrumentation added on, so the 7" is different and i'd suspect maybe 69/70??? cheers Sutty
  14. Gloria Walker 'Deep inside of you' in columbia 45 is a detroit recording and I think fits your bill, but i'm not sure when it was recorded? they added a more disco-ey beat to the 'deep inside you' 12" e.p. but the 45 is the pre-disco version. Just put it on and thought of this thread. Immense 45. cheers Sutty
  15. I pm'd you last night to no response... i like the strings!
  16. that's because after I posted it up and before you looked, somebody's bought it (or the seller's removed it), it was for sale under this listing here https://www.discogs.com/Summits-Sleepwalking-Ill-Never-Say-No/release/3091391
  17. some people are just either really dim or don't know how to use Google, there's been a minter sat on Discogs for £173 while that £644 auction was going on, and it's still there (presumably same Oslo seller) https://www.discogs.com/sell/list?release_id=3091391&ev=rb
  18. and he's relisted it as M- https://www.ebay.com/itm/PATTI-JO-45-Make-me-believe-M-73-WAND-/230679978548?_trksid=p4340.m263&_trkparms=algo%3DSIC%26its%3DI%26itu%3DUCI%252BIA%252BUA%252BFICS%252BUFI%26otn%3D5%26pmod%3D230667114579%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D3144193905161381387

I've got a heavy silver metal 200x7" one I don't use anymore, extremely solid (not the cheap ones that are about, this is a proper flight case type thing - got it in a trade with backdoor Kenny years ago but don't let that put you off lol), and a big old 600x7" count black one too, i'll get them out tomorrow and get a couple of photos up, been meaning to move them on for ages. I really like the silver one but it's really of no use to me. cheers Sutty

there's a Doctor Bird copy @ £300 on https://selectorsmusic.com/ right now just to let you know, but a word of warning, I have 2 paypal claims open against them for non-delivery. They don't respond to mails, voicemails and the shop puts you onto a guy that runs their mail order who responds to nothing. It comes up on a google search so you may be directed to it, so if you see it and click on buy, proceed with caution! cheers Sutty
  23. Robin is from Carlisle and as far as I know is still there, but not heard from him/her for donkeys years. Yes did have a visit one night that lasted a week! I met Robin through Bub, Jerry and Stuart. Stuart is still with us and on facebook, the other 2 guys sadly missed :/ we did have some REALLY good laughs, and between them when on form it was like being in a top comedy show, I could tell many a tale. I only saw Mick at the 100 club and i've not been for about 10 years I guess but he was always a nice guy I thought. I'm in almost daily contact with Jimmy Lynn, he's very well, made a million or thereabouts with his partner out of property development and is as ever making his own music in between appearing to enjoy himself immensely and still not doing a proper job, he's done all right. He's been a good friend of mine for many many years, Now, how long have you got with Jimmy tales lol, love him to bits (but not in the biblical sense), lets just say every event on a daily basis has a story attached to it. Lots of good memories, some rather insane ones, and a friend for life, and there aren't many of them about, cheers Sutty
  24. The original isn't on a 12 it came out in the 60s, it's on the 'heavy soul' lp, the 7 and 12 are both legal uk reissues Cheers Sutty
