Interesting - was it sold online? Also, what was the date (this year?) and the condition, of that £2.4k one?

In such condition, that's a serious and surprise bargain for the buyer.

@ChalkyIt's often true - there's an interesting psychology involved at the root of that phenomenon.

The Cresa is a genuine rarity - 'Monster' is definitely an apt word. Last year it went for £5,016

JMAuction - 17/11/2021 - Results!
I was bidding on it myself, up to a point, as it was looking like a great opportunity to get a second copy, in fantastic condition and cheap. Then unfortunately, it crept above what I could justify paying for what would be a 'spare'!

That 'Mint' Bernie Moore went relatively cheaply, bearing in mind recent sales trends. Somebody won it at a bargain price.

Please let me know the details, if you have one for sale. Thanks.

Junior McCants.
An even bigger surprise to me was how Pat managed to successfully cover-up an already world-wide known singer's record, complete with the artist's 'signature' vocal traits, when he announced a Wilson Pickett record as being by 'Brother Louie Brown'. I think a number of factors have to have been involved in Pat's success, including addled minds at the time, due to drug use and the sound systems not being exactly state-of-the-art 🤣

Something New - You Babe/what's This I See (Curtom)
I found this thread after finding a copy on Wand this morning, in a long-time unopened box. I'm adding these Wand version images, to complete the set.

Damaged records....who claims ?
Seller’s responsibility, in the original scenario described. If the item doesn’t get to the first point of contact with the buyer, in the condition described, at the time the deal was struck, then it’s for the seller to make good.

BBC record library
Yes. The beauty of the BBC's position was that they didn't have to ask for records. Everybody knew that they were the de facto, gold standard of British radio. To feature on a BBC playlist was to guarantee big sales. Therefore for decades, copies of probably almost all records that were issued in Britain, would have been sent to them, in the hope of some air time. They were the recipients of product 'pushes', rather than having to 'pull'.

BBC record library
I got lots from hospital radio too, but the BBC stations were the motherlode.

BBC record library
Lots of BBC radio station record libraries existed, all around the country. I'd toured many of them by mid '90s and had legitimately bought a lot of records from them, during those years. Recurrent comments by the BBC staff were 'make us an offer for them' and 'we need to make space'. It was frequently obvious to me, that the station managers/DJs didn't appreciate what they had.

News: The 100 Club Allnighter - 40 Years on by Butch & Co
A brilliant piece of writing about the place that people of my age and under, regard as the most iconic of venues. It was good to read details of so many of the people who have made it what it was and is - and of course, some of the key records that have been a part of the fabric. I'm sure that everybody who has played there will agree with the line: "I was asked to guest DJ at the Allnighter, and I was of course hugely flattered and nervous on a whole new level." The final paragraph brought a lump to my throat.
