Record playlists
John, Ukranian club Ashton will almost always put up a Video clip (running a record or two) of the dancefloor action on the night. So people can guage the atmosphere and a tune or two. And often they will also do a follow up record listing. Plus if you check the SS events prior to a Ukranian night they always post up records being brought to the night by D.J.s.

Footie hand bandages
Just watched the Sunday morning repeat of Match Of The Day. I think just about every team had one and maybe two players with hand/wrist bandages tape ( a la Phil Foden). Is this a 'thing' now or is something going on in training?

The Detroit Sound Label?
Hi Gilly, Throw this in as a curve ball...Bill Craigs NEW management wing of Bill Criag Enterprises was around March 1969. This is when he took in The Sequins, Gwen Owens, Timmy Willis and a few more. Your 2nd photo(above) has exclusive management Bill Craig Ent. Your 1st Photo (DaDa Music production music) probably pre-dates this? but when?

Shelly Fisher
talking about Jacqueline Hilliard not Shelly and I'm now only questioning her date of death.

Shelly Fisher
i do think Discogs has her dated incorrectly. was she really born in 1918?, and she was still ( i thought i was definite on this? but will have to find my notes, etc) alive in 1982. BUT...everything i see wiki, etc, says b.1918 to d.1980. gonna have to triple check! I 'm now only questioning the date of death! happy to be corrected though.

Lebam Records & Music updated
Whilst chasing down some California research i came across a 'trail of breadcrumbs' on Lebam. Roburt's original 2017 post provided a good first pass so i thought i'd share the new stuff. https://www.soul-source.co.uk/forums/topic/379012-lebam-records-music/ You may not have noticed, but Lebam is Mabel spelled backwards. Mabel Leona Hobson Betz was a theatrical agent, A&R manager, Officer of Associated Songwriter Club of the Air ( along with Charls M. Brandt, Brandt records and studio), she was a publisher, owner of Lebam & State Calla records. Operating from Sacrimento, (State Capital of California, so State Calla). Sacrimento music addresses for Mabel were 849 Fourth St, 2033 Burnett Way and in Los angeles 2661 Clyde Ave.The latter address is also attributed to Frank J. Wedlaw. His relationship with Mabel is thought (by me) to be wife or maybe 2nd wife...but there's no certainty on this except for a 1997 property dispute filing in Oregon that lists Frank J. & Mabel Wedlaw. Remembering that most of the work goes back to the 40's & 50's, Mabel's copyrights are full of lyric and music pseudo's and only the artist names remain true. I've not been able to attribute Lawana, but guess (LAW is from WedLAW and maybe LawANA is from ANdy Belvin).

'Little' Johnny Blair
yup, agree. they are the same singer, or at least the same audio across the two you tube clips. Even with the Lelan Rogers connection there seems something odd (to me at least) about what seems to be a New York artist on Calla arriving at House of the Fox, with Memphis writers on both sides. But i guess Calla licenced off the B-side, and hey ho...no conspiracy theory here.

US Major Labels -- marketing to US black audiences
Black music couldn't get air play. ( this bit has been talked about on here before). As Jerry Wexler expressed, Black music came to England to be "sweetened" before White Amercia would listen to it. Motown wasn't considered White at first, and Black music was seggregated to the ghetto. A & R men didn't take their Black artists to radio stations until they had a Top 20 or bubbler. FM radio stations helped...BUT if you can't get airplay it's tough to market to anybody, let alone soul music/black R & B/ call it whjat you will
