  1. So sad to see this and so glad I caught up with Gary at Just Soul a few months ago after many years. Gary was a gem. Many happy memories of knocking around in the 80s. Sincere condolences.
  2. 1980 the week after playing "Casanova" I seem to remember..
  3. Hi Tony, still hiding in the NE, played an oldies set at David Hulme's 50th couple of weeks ago - which was cool - and made that two nights out this year - double my recent average! Hope you are ready for the Prem...got a good feeling about the Foxes this year...Have a good one.
  4. Big hello Barry! Hope things good with you.... That would have been Danny Everard's flat on the Cally Road, North London I reckon...dropped by there myself a couple of times when I moved darn sarf in '87...A bit like you...I Can't get over these memories....Have a good one fella.
  5. I reckon '79 too...Alongside oldies Dj's like Chris King I have a vivid memory of Dave Raistrick doing a late spot around 0700, stood in his duffle coat, playing L.Allen - which looked cool!
  6. Nice one Byrney! Intriguing!! Will message you..
  7. Chalky/Jock, Have been in my Loft this morning digging around...Safe from flooding up there!... I have them Chalky so happy to send...Pm me your addy.. Also came across "Jock's view of Soul" which reminded me of you! Hope you are well mate!
  8. Yes , I got this off a friend from Cleveland Ohio, who found it at a record fair in the States in the early 80s. I remember showing it around Stafford one night when he was visiting the Uk and people being pretty amazed by it. I acquired it towards the end of the 80's from my friend and sold it to Richard in '94 - He told me he wanted to buy it for his accountant as a gift! He must have saved him some money that year! A real oddity and I never knew of any other copy at the time.
  9. Have a great time Mike and yes we'll catch up when the weather improves! This may be worth trying? https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=11&ved=0CHgQFjAK&url=http%3A%2F%2Fjudyshouseofoldies.com%2F&rct=j&q=myrtle%20beach%20record%20stores&ei=GpUxT8bcMYrL8QP9lOTdBg&usg=AFQjCNFX00-fsZu0LLkT2ViiHeVJiAePsg

  17. Hi Phil, Pete's living in Denmark. I heard from him over Christmas - and he's fine. Not sure about the curls (more tight waves?!) but definately greyer! Cheers. Robin
  18. Hi Mark, I have it on 12" and did play it a couple of times in the early '80's. Can't remember the label (Uk), in the loft somewhere! I used to rate it - be good to hear it again and see what it sounds like today.
  19. Guy's "The Albanians" "Same Thing" c/u ("Masqueraders"). Seem to remember there was a Med holiday/cyberman story in that one?.. Remember going to Loughborough station to get a train over to TheBrit at Nottm...there was a shop called James Mack and Co and one night me and a mate very childishly graffited "and the Chicago Gangsters" below the shop name at the height of Roy Dawson's fame!
  20. Good memories of Jonathon's coaches from Nottingham - late Wigan Sat nights, pick up outside The Salutation, a few to The Fleet and a never to be forgotten expedition to a Yate Anniversary when the coach broke down on the way back well south of Brum - a stabbing on the coach and an epic journey to get home via public transport...
  21. I obviously can't speak for John, but due to absence of replies would say the following... I've sold a number of items through John over the past years - I have always been 100% satisfied with the process and prices achieved. 15% commission, payment prompt - they like buyer to have a reasonable time to ensure happy with purchase (item as described etc) .John is always looking for quality items across the board in prime condition. I've never had an item that hasn't reached reserve (which you have option to set) Given the fact that there are so many timewasters on Ebay and escalating charges (Ebay/paypal) and general hassle of selling the odd record yourself I believe you can't go wrong!
  22. I bumped into Gary and Julie at a Leicester Oddfellows Revival a few years ago - Gary was always a big influence on me and it was great to see him again....I offered to copy some old Wigan/Palais tapes with him Djing....got the job done, sent a nice stash to the address he gave me - then heard from his brother (I think) that they (he and Julie) had split the same time I sent them off....I always wondered if he ever received them!
  23. No Mark the show was 5th April and the links on 6MS go back to 12th! Can try and burn for you - just pm addy and I should be able to sort. Cheers for sorting the listing out - will revisit with details to hand!
  24. Not seen either in years Mark, sure they will still be into their music though. Was listening to the Johnny Reckless mix today and nearly had to ask what a certain record was as I knew I had it.... "I've got you on my mind"....then it came to me.....Gary Glenn (PPL LP). Any chance of rustling up a listing from him? Simon - enjoyed the show with Ian D - some good stuff there Sir!
  25. The site is coming on a treat Mark - nice one mate - enjoying the podcasts and mixes. keep em coming...
