  1. Yes I've got it too Dave - think I got mine off Glyn Thornhill.
  2. That'll learn you
  3. Nice one Caroline, I'm sure many of us on here appreciate your efforts. I'm sending something today but if you do print this off.. "GET WELL SOON, MONTY"....In Loughborough when we first got to know him in about '83/'84 we used to call him Monty Carlo Phil - because he always seemed to be going on these mad escapades around Europe...Monty Carlo included. You are a true character - hope you are on your feet again soon.
  4. yes, Sean is sadly missed, He would'nt have been surprised by Leicester's oh so nearly victory at Chelski tonight (4-3 glorious defeat snatched from the jaws of victory). Good times with him on the scene and at the footy. Talking of Leicester lads - anyone seen Shelvo lately?
  5. Hi Daz and Jo of course, Yeah great times were'nt they - I know we did'nt share exactly the same musical tastes but it did'nt stop us spending a lot of time together! The best of times. I reckon Guy's 50th on the 3rd is going to be a bit of a reunion for the "lost generation" - hope to see you there?
  6. Oak Hotel at Shrewsbury - ran by the Shrewsbury Collective. Pip was the only one I knew..Richard and Sam guested - I went a couple of times - a long way from Loughborough on a Friday night for a Soul Nite! The record that always reminds me of this cracking small venue is Jean Carn "No, No, you can't come back now" which was a bit of an anthem.
  7. Yes Sean, me and Ady Connolly from Derby were in a shop in Myrtle Beach in '83 when it arrived as a New Release. We got a handful and brought one back for Sam as well.
  8. Yeah, could get a lot of Jap House and Jazz cd's with that
  9. Long way to go before mine I'm glad to say, but full on as ever - you know how it is... Quick listing of the Rebels tape... Richard - Charles Veal, Ruby Wilson, Lamont Dozier Arthur - Rideout, Fam of Eve, Zingara, Jeff Smith, Nicky Newarkers, Tyrone Barkley, Bileo, Brafa (not many will know that), Sylvers, Charles Mann, Willie Darrington, Larom Baker, Esquires, Timeless Legend, Executive Force,Leon Peterson, Earl Randell, Steve M - Wes Black, Willie Clayton "Dance & Shake Your Body", Larry Houston Richard - Johnny Honeycutt, "Maurice McAllister", "Rose Valentine", "James Lewis",CM Lord
  10. when I retire maybe!
  11. I've got a Rebels tape "1st All Niter" - 21/11/81 - Richard,Arthur and a couple of bits from Steve Mannion...it always seemed to snow when rebels was on!
  12. The tapes are fine Simon - not mangled at all? - First Brum Locarno is dated as 23/3/81 - Arthur/Sam/Mario - History in the making....
  13. So presume we're talking about "Playing Your Game" ? Read the thread but it's not clear. No nightmare for me Simon - very overrated record - in fact poor I would say, never fancied playing it out early '80s, much better stuff around at the time - pleased with a couple of hundred quid a canny while ago. Money is'nt everything
  14. You are Stuart...and I claim my £10!
  15. [quote name='Robin S' 5 Records off the top of my head taht will always remind me of those Cleethorpes Niters Demetri - Got To Be Real The Dramatics - I Can't Stand It The Whispers - I'm gonna Love You More ("The Whispers"!!) Booker Newberry III - Love Town Mind & Matter - Under Your Spell ("Merlin & The Magicians") (ok make it 6...) - Horizon - They Don't Make em Like You (The immortal ""Eddie Richards & 3 way split")
  16. Great pictures there - really capture the special atmosphere of the Cleggy Niters (Part 2). I'ld say '82? I travelled from Loughborough every fortnight with a regular crew from there, Derby and various other waifs and strays. Loads of good times with good people like - Sue,Linda,Smog,Woody,Adam,Ady Connolly,Rob Tipper,Jaimie Saul (RIP),Ant Shearer,Cheryl,Mike Godfrey,Pete Shirley,Dave/Adam (Dewsbury), Musically very inspiring, from the more readily available (if you were prepared to hunt around)platters served up be Sean,Crofty,Darren to the rarities of Poke and Sam. Both as good as each other I would say. 5 Records off the top of my head taht will always remind me of those Cleethorpes Niters Demetri - Got To Be Real The Dramatics - I Can't Stand It The Whispers - I'm gonna Love You More ("The Whispers"!!) Booker Newberry III - Love Town Mind & Matter - Under Your Spell ("Merlin & The Magicians") (ok make it 6...) - Horizon - They Don't Make em Like You (The immortal ""Eddie Richards & 3 way split")
  17. Just heard from Sue and Moll in Melbourne. They say it's definately Moll in the grey shirt next to Gilly. Also. I was speaking to Hayley at Burton last week and she reckons this could be taken at Loughborough Town Hall?
  18. The "Bell Brothers"?? Big early 80's record and pretty rare too.
  19. A few years ago I was Supervisor on duty in North Yorkshire Fire Control when we had mass spate flooding throughout the County. I was filmed doing an interview for a local "Tyne Tees" news item which actually went out nationally on ITN that night. I often get reminded of it by old friends that happened to see it...I'm working in Durham Control tonight...and guess what...it's raining!
  20. "James Lewis" - The Q Yes, very happy memories of Richard's late Casino spins. Rideout/Garry Glenn/Keni Burke/Charles Mann etc. Top Tunes! That's before the 60's monsters...
  21. Anyone know the one and only Shelvo (Paul Shelvington) from Leicester? He used to collect Ronn records and remember seeing a nice box of maybe 75/100 titles on Ronn at his house.
  22. Paul "Trouble" Anderson by any chance Jock??
  23. Joan, I'll mention this thread to Sue (now in Oz with Mol and family). They'll love the photos and the memories. Is that Stewart from Leicester (Tomo/Oz etc compatriot) between Chris and Nick?
