  8. We just had the 40th Anniversy of the Belgian International Plastic Modellers Society this weekend, I was checking out the ages of the participants and it's just like the current NS scene, a whole gaggle of overweight, balding blokes in their 50T's There were a few younger men too and even women !! Just like our NS scene the older blokes dominate and know their onions, check out the pics !! My stand (all originals - well mostly anyway ;-) The bloke next to my stall, boy he had some stuff, I ended buying 5 models from him !!
  9. If younger people do watch the film and decide to get into the NS scene will they want their own venue or mix it up with the olde farts that attend venues nowadays ?? Chris L Olde Fart Extraordinaire
  10. When you visit the film website it's still dating from August !! When's supposed to be coming out.......???
  11. I know that place used to live quite near it when I were a kid. Always was in awe of those big "EMI" letters on the side of the building, glad they've been able to do something with the stuff
  12. Good heavens it's NS's main attaraction, who wants normal ?
  13. I met him at the LA Soul trip he was wandering around on his todd, had a great chat with him, what a smashing bloke, most of the singers who've had hits turn out to be sh**s but he was top dog. Reckon a few green'ns and he's anybodys. Owning "Gimme little sign" on UK Liberty gave you yards of street cred when I were a nipper lad
  14. Rainy night in Georgia makes me cry
  15. Brenton Wood is just one of those artists that when see one of his records for sale you just buy it ! Try and catch the video of him singing on the UKs TOTPs back in the 60T's when he did "Gimme a little sign" top notch, great voice, class act

  17. On my first record hunting trip to the US in 1999 I paid a handsome $3.00 for a copy of this gem.......... a great "11.00PM" choon or one to revive the spirits later in the night/morning.................
  18. Well we were both worse for wear from the drink, she was drinking tequila but yes you're right I was well tubby but of course nearly 10 years younger, she on the other hand was stunning, drunk or sober !! And I can see "I've seen it all"
  19. Down at the Hitsville Soul Weekender amongst all those extremely, extremely expensive records one DJ played (Allan Pollard meethinks) Earl Wright - Thumb a ride, went down a storm. C'mon hands up who apart from me has done the air-sax to this great tune ??
  20. It ranks with Bobby Hebb as one of the best "films" terrific set, super make up artist and lots of time to do it in..................well, no actually now that I think about it we were running late and we nearly missed Leola Jiles, crumbs now I remember the panic, anyway there she was ever the professional waiting for me at the hotel bar Happy memories !!
  21. She is the lead singer of Sisters Love, on "I'm Learning To Trust My Man". Here she is with Simon White - they were going to get married so she could live in England. If you take her hat off, shes bald underneath, honest !! I've seen it Chris L
  22. Good points Steve. The paradox is that the records are, as you say, sometimes worth big money, however for all people involved at the time (singers, writers, producers, etc) the costs were more than the revenue so in fact they were money losers. Can't really expect record collectors to pay a commission on top of the purchase price and give to the artists, writers, producers, etc (even if you could find them). When I win the Spanish lottery (last time was £110 million) I will get every NS artist, writer, arranger, producer to the UK and have a massive "meet & greet" (probably at a rebuilt Torch, Mecca or Casino ;-) About 5 years ago I did something very much smaller, on my own, when I tracked down the Ad Libs, Chris Bartley & The Spellbinders and got them all together for a day in New Jersey, wonderful day. The truth is the only money to be made in NS is with record trading and perhaps and I say "perhaps" with one or 2 promoters. Chris L
