Favourite current label
Very difficult and awkward question to ask ,and answer , for the most something that covers all tastes, and a few that specialize in a particular genre or style , depending on mood , reissue or new , so for me they all deserve to be nominated, so I guess I'm stuck on the fence ,,,, for now , it's a bit like Sports Personality Of The Year , you know who would like to nominate, and then out of the blue,,,

Led Zeppelins record collection
Ah ha , recently I had this conversation with Chris Anderton , and believe it or not, "Rob the Mod " sat in on Radio 6 music , for a couple of weeks and one of the tunes he played ( from his reputed 1 Million strong record collection) on UK Stateside of course , was Vernon Garretts, Shine It On , and is still an avid collector of Kent ( ace / Kent etc ) albums , to this day . Like I've always said the music of your youth is very hard to shake off .

Open your ears and your minds
I don't wish to sound like an ignorant git , or a shit stirrer , I offered 1 tune , and obviously others 1 or 2 , but did anybody over possibly 3 threads , take up the challenge of 10 records , if not it's all round to Chalkys ,,,, There's been a few topics over the last 2 weeks or so and before , and it does seem like rarity wether good or bad has been at the fore , but still no 10 records that would fill a dance floor for half a set , here's my no 2 , cost £3-99. Just weeks 3 ago , sold it years past and always wanted another , 8 to go lol

Discogs look what I own
Personally I only use discogs as a guide , find the middle asking price and half it , it does work especially if the seller is honest . My worst experience, a couple of years back was to purchase a copy of Willie Tee , Teasing You Again for a miserable sum , I queried the seller and he confirmed it was the original etc . When it arrived it was the Atlantic golden series reissue, of Teasing You, the only good thing it had an address from the original sale in the US. I contacted him ,he ignored , I contacted him again with a label copy of which it should look like . He replied send it back and I will refund you , I said no because I didn't want some other poor bugger falling for the same scam . He refunded me up to the same amount that that particular release was worth , because I actually liked the b side I wanted to keep it . I appealed to discogs to remove this reissue as an original Teasing You Again , and the process was soul destroying, eventually after a couple of weeks, I had received enough supporters to have this £5 . Reissue removed and then they had the cheek to ask me if I concurred with findings . Perhaps in a case like the one above , we should bombard them with warnings to warn the possible mug that he's being ripped off , and hopefully stop the unnecessary false pricing, of over inflated records in order to line the pockets of the discogs board of directors , I'm sure there is an option to place comments on each sale page , and if done regularly may have an effect ?

A retrospective Manifesto for the Northern Soul scene
A really good point Frankie , "once it's out there" it's out there, but I get the feeling that's what these promoters encourage. I hope I'm wrong .

Craig Westwood RIP
First met Craig in the 70s , sure it was Yate, as Pete says great dancer , great Personality, where ever the venue, wether wooden floor or sports hall, Hinckley for instance he made it look so easy like he was joined at the hip to the Stylus , never missed a beat . Condolences to all his family and friends, RIP Craig

A retrospective Manifesto for the Northern Soul scene
Fortunate that perhaps most of the youth at the time would never had read the Sunday Times , but the secret was out and in the mainstream nonetheless, prior to the article it was the soul based magazines that only spoke of it , is what I was getting at , and then the floodgates burst open . There was definitely a bit more space than usual on the dance floor in the main room on the night in question . As a Manifesto suggestion less promotion in the mainstream is what I was suggesting.

A retrospective Manifesto for the Northern Soul scene
When Red Saunders turned up at the Casino in 76 , and the following Sunday Times supplement was printed , there did seem to be a lot more space on the main room dance floor on the night , but not a lot of room in Mr Ms , not sure if it was because most of the kids in the room where at a sleep over, and didn't want to be found out ,off their heads and didn't want Mum & Dad to see them in that state , or possibly just plain and simple fxxk off leave us alone . I know where I was and the rest of my fellow soulies , upstairs out of site , not wanting any part of it , that was 50 years ago , I know we've been over this a 100 times , but promoters are to blame , they want to make money so they publisize, they invite the reporters even going back to the early days Dave Godin , did anyone ever tell him to do one , No. So maybe it's time to publisize by word of mouth, just like we the punters did in the old days or the relevant associated outlets , noticeboards etc ?
