  1. Baby Its You side is a great tune and a rare record as its only on the issue. Saying that its price doesn't reflect this. Hope you get one soon.
  2. Always thought Fascinating Girl sounded like a pissed uncle singing karaoke at a wedding, but this is far worse than that. Anthony, your sharing of this gem is greatly appreciated...
  3. Both sides were massive London Rare Groove plays in the mid 80s
  4. I believe the red and the white Hutson ones are the same recording. As said before the different takes are the Hutson/Hutton variations.
  5. These might not be in people's top 10, but I do keep returning to Jimmy Hughes' two Fame and Volt LPs
  6. no need for me to get cocktails for the wife as they're delivered to our hands by waiters. I've got the UK Bell LP like the idea of the book, maybe someone with some in depth knowledge and substantial stock could do this and maybe even add some prices to the listings. What a great idea that would be.....
  7. And his "A Man Needs A Woman"LP, get the UK bell release as it's got 6 more tracks compared to the US Goldwax release
  8. ******* CD swap now closed *******
  9. Looking for two more victims, then we're done
  10. The timing of Keep It Up is different on the 7" issue (3:10) , 7" demo (3:10/3:40) and LP (4:15)
  11. £50 probably, shame it's not a Goldwax W/D, but musically the LP's priceless.
  12. We are going with a download offering, but that will be on a bilateral basis as most people already signed up prefer the CD option.
  13. You are, but can remove you if you require?
  14. 10 participants so far, so looking for 5 more victims to complete the set.
  15. There's been talk in the previous CD Swap PM group for a CD Swap for the summer (we're looking at a download option for those more technical, but it's not compulsory). This is a great opportunity to show the world; what a great collection of R&B growlers you have, highlighting those “funky beats” the big-boys aren't playing yet or even to show how “Sweet” or “Deep” your collection is. All you need to do is send me your contact details (real name and postal address), burn a CD of music, send it to the other recipients and wait for the CD’s to start dropping onto your doormat, it’s that easy. Numbers will be limited and please only put yourself forward, if you do intend sending out the CDs. I know it sounds a funny thing to say, but it does cause disappointment and heartache, if people don’t play ball. So, PM me with your contact details and we can get the ball rolling. I'd like to close it on 1st August. Cheers, John
  16. There was a previous thread and I always thought Richard Searling played this from either the late 80's to maybe 1990 - the early Southport weekenders. I'm sure he played it before mid 92, as I stopped going out/buying records then.
  17. Heres the bsnpubs info https://www.bsnpubs.com/new/turbo.pdf
  18. Its a version of Otis Clay's "That's How It Is". The copy I have, I believe has the correct title of "That's How It Is When You're In Love".
  19. Buy them from Amazon as you'll probably get them a lot cheaper than standard soul dealers.
  20. Also both of those tracks were the official B-sides. I'd be interest in seeing a scan to see the numbers at the bottom are for SD: 53B and DD: 54B
  21. Mike, yes you're correct. I got mine from Amazon in mp3's format
  22. The only recorded version by Dan Penn that I know of was on his Do Right Man CD from a 2010. Him and Chips Momon, must have earned a few quid out of this tune over the years.
  23. If anyones got this piece of poo collecting dust on a shelf, drop me a pm and I'll take that bit of rubbish off your hands.........
  24. Richard as you said two of the three writers are J J Barnes and Richard Morris, so thats very strong Detriot connection. She was in his review at the time, so it may have been a marketing ploy to get radio stations to play it, funny the Federal issues don't say it. I've never been 100% convinced all the credits that say "A James Brown production" are really all "James Brown" productions. The people aty ACE might be able to clarify it as they've been through the vaults for their King related CD's
  25. In a moment of madness many years ago, I sold my copy. What a fool I was...
