  1. a great bit of country soul
  2. I thought the Outta Sight stuff was legit.
  3. What about Delaney and Bonnie, Sean Morton Downey Jr & Glenn Yarbrough? Curtom also went a bit off course with the Patti Miller and Ruby Jones LP's.
  4. Shame on you Steve, you've fallen off of the pedestal I've put you on. Its Orange Sunshine

I'm not trying to be funny, but if you currently have a Northern Soul show, shouldn't you already know quite a few?
  6. Slightly off topic, and mentioning the Charmels, where does this demo fit in?
  7. Is that the going rate and the 7" ???
  8. Surely this a subjective view with no right or wrong answer and biggest doesn't always mean best. Someone who likes Sweet Soul will say someone with a Sweet leaning is the best same with Northern, Deep, Funk or any other genre. Personally I think mine is the best because its mine.
  9. According to John Ridley's site the UA release is a difference artist. John might be able to help you. https://www.sirshambling.com/artists_2012/L/lois_lane/index.php
  10. I don't think you ever get your head around the whole thing. The amount of black music made, even from just the 60's/70's was vast and I'm sure everyone would agree that no-one can/would know everything and if anyone did know them all, how boring would it be knowing there was nothing new to discover. Why would you want to collect all R&B releases as IMO for every good record, two bad or average were released. Unless you're a label completest, just buy what you like don't worry about the size of your collection compared to others and enjoy being in the musical dark, as for me its the best way to be.
  11. Don't know what you mean...... THE SWAP IS NOW CLOSED Thankyou to all who've put their names in the hat, should be an interesting one.
  12. One more place left. So if you want to hear Rogers Willam's selection of R&B growlers, Dave Tuners fave Hip-Hop flava's or my selection of James Last's Peruvian Pan Pipe classics, send me a pm
  13. Two spaces left, go on give it a go.
  14. 3 spaces left, filling up nicely
  15. There are now 20 participants, so 5 spaces left and it will be closed at midnight on Friday. So if you fancy showing off your creative skills by making a better CD cover than John Lloyd (he's hard to beat, by the way) or make a worse one than me, give it a go. Think of it when the CD's pop through the door and your partner says: "Another tune, how much did you pay for that one?" You can say: "No, it's free. It's a CD from the latest swap on Soul Source" A happy partner and more tunes to add to your wants list...........
  16. I am, sorry for any confusion caused.
  17. I thought we'd finally put the last nail in that coffin. Also the re-press has a significant dip towards the dink, which the original doesnt have.

Think that came from me as there are three different formats that I know. Frank Hutson (White), Frank Hutson (Orange) and Frank Hutton (White)
  19. There's 16 people signed-up so far. So if you're tired of hiding your Jackie Moore records or think I've just gotta tell somebody, how good Gloria Lynn is. Send me a pm and join the swap. I'm going to close the list on Friday night, so if you want to join send me a pm and join the swap.
  20. Of all of the Stax releases I've got, from the early 60's until the Fantasy ownership. Its the Volt 4000 series, I hold closest to my heart.
  21. Is it just me or are issues of the leased-in stuff genuinely harder to get hold of (not necessarily more expensive) than the In-house developed volt issues (if you know what I mean..) as they probably sold bugger all or were not pressed in the quantity as the others. ie Paul Thompson, Charlene & The SS, Roz Ryan, Collette Kelly to name a few.
  22. And I remember that one very well, didnt use a snipe and other things came into my mind so missed the end.
  23. These are my favourites, with seperate demand from two collecting circles
  24. Haven't met a poor contractor working in finance yet. Nope, for some reason every time I go to buy it something else always seem into my sights and takes priority. I'm off to Florida this summer, so may buy it & get it sent to where we're staying and save on the international postage.
  25. Yes and no. There's a few alternate takes on the last CD but I'll Be There is a peach of an unreleased track. I haven't got the set in front of me, but from memory its from about 73 and recorded at Fame or Muscle Shoals. 7 CD's of his best work, an essential purchase at any cost. Its in a nice 7" sized box and loads of notes and photos
