  1. Since first hearing the news, I've been trying to think of what to write. Although I hadn't seen Jim in a number of years, he was one of the people you couldn't forget. He was one of the most kind and thoughtful people I have ever known and would do anything for anyone and often went out of his way to help people. Seeing the photo's posted, brings back lots of fond memories, but also brings sadness. He loved soul music and loved to dance. A sad loss not only to the soul fraternity, but to anyone he'd met. John

    Eddie Parker - Crying Clown
  3. This was raised a little while ago, when soneone had the 7" in the "sales" section. I've never seen a 12" on Al & the Kidd in the flesh, but seen a few on Fynal Vynil. Which do seem to come up on a periodic basis. Adam mentioned that he'd had 3 through his doors. I think someone said the 12" is around £400 even though it is rarer, but the 7" in more prized. Well I suppose the 7" can fit on your thumb, whereas the 12" cant.
  4. It's got to be: Willie Johnson I Can't See Myself/Left-Over Love on Future Stars. This is the closest I've ever got to one.
  5. I only really know about the issue, could be horribly wrong about the demo
  6. Not too sure about the difference between issues or demos, but would have thought John
  7. Bill Withers held the world record with 18 seconds (but that was on a "Hit" record) until 2000 when A-Ha beat him. https://www.everyhit.com/record7.html I always thought the end of Ebo's - I'd Rather Be By Myself, was very long.
  8. The thing that puzzles me about this record is the "local" release on Sho-Me apart from the different artist name, is that it's publish/copyright date is 1982, whereas the Juana copy states 1981. Was the song originally sold to Juana before the release on Sho-Me and then released on Juana after good local sales?
  9. Expanding this to an LP John Edwards - Life, Loving and Living on Cotillion The Sweet and the Meat sides
  10. Apart from ebay, I haven't seen "dealers" have it at less than £75 for quite awhile. John

A great tune and a great show both completly cheesey. Can Charo's version be included in the Salsoul "great and the good" thread
  12. Thanks Rich, I cant get access to popsike at work, so have been unable to look. I have an mp3 of it (can remember where I got it from) and it came up on my ipod whilst on holiday. I don't remember ever hearing it out or on my Ipod before and know nothing about it apart from finding it on the rarest of the rare section on John Manships site this morning. So I could be in for a shock price wise if it ever comes up. Cheers, John
  13. I havern't listened to the file, but if it is Edee. It was released on the even smaller local label as Edde Leatherwood on Chi-heat. This label also has a release by LV Johnson, who too went on to record for ICA. John
  14. Can anybody give me a ballpark price of this please? John
  15. One of the records that introduced me to disco/soul was Double Exposure 10%
  16. It came out on both a 7" and 12", with "where will it end" on the other side. Smashing tune...
  17. Titles tend to get a bit weirder, when you more closer to the funk and blues recordings Jesse Boone - You Cant Be A Monkey Woman - Atlantic/Bruboon Frank Lucus - I Want My Mule Back - ICA (other side to good thing man) Randy Brown - Love Formula 69 - Choc City LP

The A-side to this is Let's Go Humpin'
  19. I've sort of fell out of love for Northen over the last few years. My preference though, has always been for Southern Soul whatever the decade it was recorded in.
  20. There used to be a dancer in Spearmint Rhino's (not too long ago), who liked the philly sound of PIR. She said that she liked them cos her dad used to play them when she was little. Any of you guys out there, got a lap dancing daughter? It's also happy hour with 2 for 1 drinks from 5-7pm, which makes the beers good value.
  21. As the releases are about 4 years apart, are the versons of Crying Clown on Triple B and Awake the same?
  22. Bobby Taylor - Don't Be Afraid from Taylor Made Soul LP Barbara McNair - It happens Every Time & Forget You Ever Met Me Baby both from the Real Barbara McNair LP

Their Decca release "I'm giving up baby" is an absolute cracker
  24. Here is a scan of the other side of Jean Plum - Here I Go Again. I don't know how rare it is, but I cant remember seeing an issue listed. John
