Has Sandy Golden On Masterpiece Been Booted?
I really hope it is real for the finder - what a result of epic proportions. Talk about karma - they must of been a nun in a former life! Well done sir

An Antidote To Handbags
Fair play Phil - and I do agree - criticism must be heard where due. Lucky you weren't at the do we did once a few years back when both decks broke and the bar staff didn't turn up till gone 11pm. I had to crouch beside a radiator in a corner to hide my blushes! Best! J

An Antidote To Handbags
You are indeed entitled to your opinion and so is Frankie Crocker, and you both make some valid points - of course constructive criticism should be heard on any level. What I would say is that in any level of club promotion (online and offline) people have their own agendas, and to pretend that you are the voice of unbiased reason 'telling it like it is' is not entirely true. You and a few of your pals on here have a clear agenda to sell your own involvement and legacy on the scene as perhaps more than it is or was. For example everytime you post you mention yourself or your club night - which of course you have the right to do - but ulimately it undermines any valid point you make, as every comment ends up looking like just another antagonising post to serve your own purpose. That's just my constructive criticism of the situation as I see it unfolding in this (and many other) threads on this website.

Instrumentals
Always thought Hank Jacobs 'So Far Away' is a classic (albeit not strictly northern) 45 that speaks volumes without words.

Flip of this (Bird Walkin) is brilliant

When they are great they are really great imho. Voicemasters acetate, Kinettes, Exus Trek...the Detroit one that used to be played at the Capitol. Amazing records. The idea that a record has to have lyrics to be soulful suggests a misunderstanding of the music.

Rey Villar And Royal Flush Heaven Is My Witness
Keith deffo has one and plays at the 100. Sounds great imho.

Inexpensive Records For Big Djs?
Awful record. You can keep that one oop north. Having said that I think it's good that there is a demand for fast records by the more advanced aged members of the scene. You'd imagine it would be the other way round.

Edna Mcgriff - Hearing About You / Unreleased Acetate
Sounded like a good 'un although not in great nick. Had some nice harmonies in it for sure. Also sounded more liek it was actually a group - as in the one that's crossed out on the label?
