  1. Hi Folks, I'll be doing my usual seasonal special for Starpoint Radio this coming Wednesday 23 December 1-3pm GMT. Hoping some of you can join me, but if not keep 'em peeled for the podcast!! Cheers, Mark R
  2. I have no doubt she is........ Cheers, Mark R
  3. I'm mixed on this. On one hand I find it refreshing........new stuff like Lack Of Afro, Nicole Willis etc might be seen as a alternative take on things, and some less than obvious cuts from way back when. I see that as a good thing really. But the media hype "from zero to hero" of the compiler in little more than a year or two is a bit bizarre. Not sure if her being seen as the new voice of the scene will go down too well but maybe we should lighten up and let it evolve with this new blood. As I say, I'm dead 50/50 on this.......... Cheers, Mark R
  4. Mark R replied to a post in a topic in Record Wants
    5 pence.............on musical merit..... Cheers, Mark R
  5. From my archive! LOL Cheers, Mark R
  6. No vinyl, but might interest some on here.............. https://traxsource.com/title/535847/free-man Cheers, Mark R
  7. Obviously I agree with the Blaze and Temps "Stay" etc, but from a bit further back, this comes to mind........... Cheers, Mark R
  8. And I didn't realise until recently that Gary Van den Bussche, whom I've spoken to on Facebook and who kindly sent me some promo's a while back, was the "Disco Gary" whose club charts used to appear in the back of B&S back in the day.......well, well!! Cheers, Mark R
  9. Managed to dig out this 1 hr recording from myself and Fish's 90 minute joint set on the Saturday night at Prestatyn back in March......... https://www.mixcloud.com/soulboymark/mark-randle-fish-live-prestatyn-soul-weekender-saturday-7-march-2015/ And now my Friday night set................ https://www.mixcloud.com/soulboymark/mark-randle-live-prestatyn-soul-weekender-friday-6-march-2015/ Cheers, Mark R
  10. Hi Matt, The news is, as I suspected, my copy of PP is not going to make me a rich man! LOL US jukebox centred 45 I'm afraid! Happy hunting mate! :-) Cheers, Mark R
  11. Now you're dashing my hopes! LOL Cheers, Mark R I suspect mine must not have a solid centre then......must have a look tonight though! :-) Cheers, Mark R
  12. Well I'd certainly better check it out! I'm just not a good seller.......hate letting records go! Cheers, Mark R
  13. I've got one of these from when I were a lad but back then I didn't appreciate the original vs pressing thing.......it was just a record containing a song I'd heard and liked. Consequently I have a box of records where in some cases I don't know whether what I have is original or not! Sorry to hijack your thread, as it won't help you as i probably wouldn't sell anyway, but how do you definitively tell an original from a boot, and how much do each fetch anyway? Cheers, Mark R
  14. The fact that it's a 12" matters little to a good DJ.......there are ways to deal with such things! It's all about the 7" fetish I'm afraid, it clearly can't be down to a pieces "originality"!!! Besides that, Was-A-Bee is the original version of the song......... Cheers, Mark R
  15. This came as a real shock yesterday, a great bloke who will be much missed! R.I.P. Phil Mark R
  16. Who would have thought that the decision back in the 70's to run a separate Oldies All Niter would prove so pivotal........ Cheers, Mark R
  17. Agreed......I was making a different point but I'm sure you knew that Steve! Cheers, Mark R
  18. I was going to go there Dave, but chose not to! Cheers, Mark R
  19. You need to be coming to the Kingpower Stadium gigs..........you'll definitely be looking in the right place then! Cheers, Mark R
  20. True across the scene, not just the rare soul scene......years of knowledge gained in a matter of weeks. Cheers, Mark R
  21. I wasn't around at the Casino, but we're all aware of the power of Dickie in those days, but when you see those listed together and credited to him, it really hits the point home, That's some list of tunes!! Cheers, Mark R
  22. Yes, and remember at that time there was "Get Ready" by the real (Allan Harris &) Perpetual Motion.....probably the inspiration for the c/u name..... Cheers, Mark R
  23. And proof that Ada(ritha) Dyer was in the band, as I had previously heard! Cheers, Mark R
  24. Perpetual Motion.......
