  1. Kev As a Broughton stalwart (or old fart if you like!!) I can honestly say it was one of the best nights in it's history and I've attended most. Amount raised was just fantastic. DJ's played to the floor from Motown through Classic Northern, Crossover to the best in Modern. Great night with no soul politics and it was a pleasure to be involved. On behalf of all who attended a big thank you to yourself as it was your hard work and dedication to the scene (and venue) that put it all together. Maybe those who did not get in, and I know there were quite a few, will come along in August for another great night. Best Regards Daryl & Liz

Stefan has now opened The Soul Lodge permanently rather than twice a year. Understand two live acts per night plus decent music in-between. Link below shows location- https://www.northernsoultenerife.com/news.html Also a Facebook page (which is more up to date) "The Soul Lodge Tenerife" Decent bar prices as well!!
  3. Saw the show at New Brighton last Sunday. Sell out with 800 in the theatre. Totally agree with the above. JJ was just awesome. BEK unfortunately had the "Martha Reeves syndrome" and is past his best but somehow you can excuse that and respect him for the legend he is. Backing band (not the Vagabonds by the way) were also top notch 2 x brass 2 x percussion 2 x guitar 1 x keyboards. Four of them also joined in on backing vocals. All in all a brilliant show. Get tickets if you can.
  4. Divine on the seafront in Costa Adeje (also known as Divine Soul) is good for live/tribute soul acts (Temps on a Saturday I think). It's owned by Joe Harriott very good soul singer himself. Soul lodge mentioned above is only on twice a year.

Very sad news. Fond memories of Chris. Sincere condolences from all in Wrexham. Daryl
  6. More info about this in post by me on 2nd December (dropped down page now)
  7. Sorry if this is in wrong forum but it is important. I have received an email from Pontins saying that the "deposit" payment for next March is overdue and needs to be paid immediately or my booking could be cancelled. Obviously the deposit has been paid in full or I couldn't have made the booking and according to my booking confirmation the balance is due on 11 January 2013!!!! I 'phoned Pontins head office today (no staff only security at Prestatyn on a Sunday) to be told that there had been a mix up and that the organisers wanted balances (which they are still calling deposits???) paid by November but agreed that on booking confirmations it does state 11 January 2013 which is Pontins standard terms of 8 weeks before arrival. They are insisting on some payment now (or in next few days) and agreed to take half outstanding balance immediately with rest being paid by 11 January 2013. Pontins said that they had received a few calls so others have obviously received the same email as myself. If you want to contact Pontins Head Office and not pay 10p per minute on their premium line then use 01704 882100.

My daughters wedding last week. Unknown to me she had selected a few (very) mixed tunes to be played for about 10 mins before walking into wedding room. First up was Frank Wilson, complete surprise. Played to death I know but just listen to the lyrics.
  9. Hate to stop the slagging off of the chalets but.....................they (or most of them) have been refurbed!!!! Pulled in there couple of weeks ago after staying over at the Dudno do at Llandudno. New flooring (it's lino but looks like wooden laminate!!!) new table & chairs new leather (look??) bed settee plus new units, possibly new beds and a good lick of paint outside and in. Balcony railings also been painted. Work still underway but a massive improvement. Best site was a mountain of the old bed settees piled up on one of the lawns, wish I'd taken a photo now.
  10. I'm flying the plane mate! Already got you down for a couple of tickets!!!
  11. Or here's another one, which is totally free https://www.northernsoultenerife.com/
  12. Well remember a lot of Northern/Motown/Ska at local fair and the one everybody waited to hear..........wet dream!! How we sang along!!
  13. Yes. Sally Carman https://www.sallycarman.co.uk/
  14. Soul Suite still going strong and also Divine owned by Joe Harriott in Fanabe. Both more into live acts rather than records but a good night out when on holiday. Also a lot of "Soul/Motown" acts doing turns in other bars.
  15. Sweet Baby - Donnie Elbert
  16. Brian You must also remember the one probably said the most "Best record for six months". Have you sorted out the Strip-O-Gram for Broughton?? Daryl
  17. I think that most who attended in March had a doubt about October. Really gutted. Any possibility of alternative venue, plenty of caravan/holiday sites in same area? Just hope that March 2012 still goes ahead, if not in usual format then something just as good. Respect and thanks to all those involved over the last ten years.
  18. LOL. I doubt it, be the first one of those to walk through the gate (and I don't mean East European!!!)
  19. Sue Try putting a post on "all about soul" I'm sure more people read that page than this one. It might get moved but worth a try. I wouldn't panic just yet though as a lot more usually become available nearer the date. If anyone else contact's me, with spare passes, then I'll pass your details on to them. Good luck Daryl
  20. No problem mate. See you there. Regards Daryl
  21. Looking for two wristbands. Accommodation not required. If anyone can help please PM or call/text 07753 823371 Thanks Daryl
  22. Looking for two Prestatyn wristbands. Accommodation not required. If anyone can help please PM or call/text 07753 823371 Thanks Daryl
  23. Spot on about Sam's spots. Awesome room. Dance floor was a little small but whole room had a wooden floor so no probs. Understand that for March there will be a new entrance. Room also had plenty of sound insulation so very little carried into main room or vice versa. The "restaurant" has also had a bit of a makeover, although by Pontin's standards it's probably classed as a major rebuild!!!
  24. Remeber this one Brian? Sam again. In the very early days of heart transplants he played Laura Lee's To Win Your Heart and dedicated it to Dr Christiaan Barnard. Hell that was a few years ago!!!
  25. Couple of wristbands wanted for Prestatyn October week-ender. Accommodation not required. If anyone can help out please PM or call/text 07753 823371. Thanks Daryl
