  1. Nothing new but I never said it was. And please don't be selective on what you quote. I made it very clear that I don't think its perfect but its the best available unless you know differently. And I certainly didn't tell anyone what they should or shouldn't have. That's down to an individuals choice. No one is forcing anybody to buy it or even view the clips that are available.
  2. And that has been the crux of Ians argument (defence?) all along. This is essentially a historical document recorded for posterity. We can all debate the production values, we can all debate personalities but has anyone else undertook a project of this size? Ir's not perfect, but its the best there is, unless any one knows better. If they do then please point me in the Clara Ward.
  3. Another legend lost to us. I'm sure that sax playing will be wowing them all upstairs. An indescribable talent. RIP

    Just for you Mel.
  8. I'm up for it again. Great dancers or desert island tunes sounds good. Or how about a pick and mix, a selection of any thing you like. Modern, oldies, RnB, deep, the whole gamut. Cheers Tabs
  9. You are a wag
  10. Hi Cat, I'm in agreement with you on this. People who profess there love of the music, preach about respecting the artists, you must play OVO etc then turn round and say they don't like live acts. Where does that mindset come from? Just bizarre imo. Anyway my choice would be Jerry Butler and / or the Dramatics. Cheers [quote I m not particularly surprised about that, but it is sad isnt it? I dont think this scene is about the live artist as much as it is about the pretty labels on the record!(Has it ever been?) If it was a live act scene, everyone would of been at Stoke to see the Dells or at Northampton to hear the Impressions, and those guys at Crewe would have made a killing with Maxine Brown etc etc. I saw Sam Dees on all of his nights a few years ago, how many were at Yarmouth or Newbury that went just to see him? I d love to see Gladys Knight singing anything ,but think I might need to go to the States to hear her.
  11. Another artist that has left us. A horrible weekend for the soul scene. Condolences to her family and friends. RIP

But surely thats the point - it was sad, embarrasing, inaccurate. Made more so by real people we know who should have known better.

Really don't believe its about being positive or negative, just accuracy. This show didn't have it.
  18. 1969 from my fading memory

No, the media always get it wrong. What I was objecting too was the distortion of the facts, again.
  20. Tabs replied to a post in a topic in All About the SOUL
Just a travesty imo. Another example of how the scene is viewed by the media.

Think it might be getting a bit of a revival. Heard it played out a few times in recent weeks at various venues. Cracking tune and deffo falls in the category worthy of reactivation.
