Not imo. It just shows disrespect for the artist and their creativity, irrespective of the medium used.

Who Is Nosmo King?
I'm sure it was a Mecca play first. Played it tonight for the first time in decades. Sounds good even now, despite what the detractors might say.

Ian Levine, Motorcity, Centre City, Blackpool Mecca, And Swons
Am I losing the plot here? Personalities aside Ian tracked down all the artists and recorded them for posterity. As has been clearly stated, and collaborated by others, there was no way the financial investment could be recouped. At the risk of repeating myself, from God knows how many pages ago, it remains an historical archive of the artists we all profess to love and admire. The 'artistic' effects might not be to every ones taste but the filming wasn't done with the luxury of an unlimited Hollywood budget. And the backgrounds, in some cases, required the effects to mask the actual surroundings. All the detractors really need to re think their position. SWONS is actual footage of the artists, no more no less. It might not have the best production or direction but if better archive video exists then point me to where it resides. Until I see that evidence this constant critique is undeserved. The attacks are on the individual not the final product. Despite all the negativity I don't actually see any one proclaiming they can do better. Quite simply SWONS is not perfect, but I doubt anyone will better it.

How To Ruin A Record Label
Ed, Whatever you use will almost certainly have to be solvent based, acetone, meths, even lighter fuel! However you will need to experiment and 'dab' off the pen marks, with cotton wool balls. DON'T wipe as you will run the risk of spreading the pen ink across the rest of the label. Also solvents can have an adverse effect on vinyl, if you make a mistake. Get a crap pop record and practice on that. Looking at the scan I don't think it would be that successful anyway. The felt pen is probably ingrained into the fibre of the paper label. No matter how much you get out you will always have the 'shadow' remaining. Cheers Tabs

Ian Levine, Motorcity, Centre City, Blackpool Mecca, And Swons
Ian, Personally I don't thimk you are that naive. I really believe that the stalwarts of the scene do care. This is a labour of love which deserves universal recognition. (Whenever that might come) As an historical archive it is beyond reproach, suely no one can argue with that.? Any individual who wishes to criticise these performances, by artists we all love and admire ,MUST have ulterior motives. Personalities totally aside you got it done, BIG time. History can be re wtitten but everyone can see what you achieved on DVD. Kudos.
