  1. I have to say if anything it sounds as if the backing was re - recorded & the original vocal used. Watch the video ....surely she's miming ?
  2. Hi Saw the show at Solid Hit in London. Big numbers ? Well from memory he sung Your the One, Thanks to you, Trouble (Agents record which Ronnie wrote & recorded but it was never released until recent years) Now I cry, On & On & Can you love a poor boy.................certain that he sung at least one more??????? anyone ? Des? I keep saying it but he was absolutely brilliant Dave
  3. Ronnie Walker!!!!!!!!!!! His voice was excellent at his recent shows, how he can still still hit & hold those high notes I'll never know Saw Smokey on tv recently, possibly from a concert at the Roundhouse ? (can't remember) Thought he was good but not great & thought the brilliance of the song carried it as much as his voice. Don't get me wrong as I say he was good & I enjoyed it just thought it was lacking a bit of spark in that particular performance.
  4. Northenesque ? why ? Because it's uptempo? Check out the Wedding Present My Favourite Dress thats also uptempo It's a good modern pop record end of Nothing Northern about it imo
  5. Blimey absolute bargain! Fantastic dancer & pretty rare, more so than a lot of things that go for twice that. Must be a post Christmas thing Dave?
  6. Ok no probs NiteOwl I'd possibly stick my foot through the screen anyway
  7. So some chancer issues a hipity hopity track with some northern samples (paid for I presume? ) & then tugs at our heartstrings about how this music should be preserved etc etc please download my single, so I can hopefully make money on the back of it. I think that the music has been pretty well preserved over the last 40 years mate thank you, why not try to do something original As a matter of interest what tracks has the chancer taken?
  8. Great record bought it around the time of release, think i was put onto it by a young(ish) steve g while on the dark side listening to disco
  9. Thanks everyone for helping me understand
  10. Yeah bought it back in the 70s thought it was on the wrong speed Prefer it to Tina Mason, believe the B side is rather popular with Mr G Green
  11. as it was in amongst 1000's of Pop crap (which a lot of people would argue is exactly what "What" is LOL........) Ha Ha yes indeed Ian both versions so it's not a soul v pop dancer preference but pop v pop so as a pop tune played on the northern IMO it comes down to dance potential. Leaving aside the pop/soul thing (& anyway I defy anyone on the northern scene to say they've never danced to a record by a white singer?) who can deny the sheer exhuberance of uptempo dancability of the Judy Street version against the more restrained dull version of Tina Mason who sings flat ? Thats my opinion anyway ...Happy new year
  12. Cheers Pete, that sort of explains it (don't understand why but at least I know it wasn't me making my usual cock ups ) . i tried to pay through a card & got a message as you say, allowing me to choose who pays the fee
  13. Apologies if this has been dealt with before but can anyone enlighten me what the score is with this? With more & more people asking for paypal payments to be sent as a gift I assumed that this was a way of getting around the fee but this doesn't appear to be the case Help !!!! Thanks dave
  14. Great stomper great story re postman pmsl

  16. Shsdave replied to a post in a topic in Record Wants
1 on manship site 300 quid
  17. Don't let the views of one person put you off Rick, I can understand if you were trying to push EJ as a soul artist but a post such as yours is totally inoffensive. Keep posting your occasional views mate. If I or anybody else feel that it could be upsetting to read we won't read it, simple really
  18. You think that is bad John, in lookbacks there are playlists, not i must say at a strictly Northern event as reggae was played amongst other stuff but included Archies Sugar Sugar & Jackie Lee (no not that one) Rupert the Bear. As I say it doesn't seem to be a strictly Northern event but somebody actually praised the playing of Rupert & called it the lighter side of Northern Soul FFS . I assumed at first it was a wind up but to be honest I don't think it is...................although I think Moldie is stirring the cooking pot
  19. The ep is 1983 release, she looks younger on the cover than she does in pics from the 60s coupled with the fact that she had no success in the 60s seems unlikely (tho not impossible) that she would still be recording in the 80s
  20. Couple of years more like
  21. Nice sound been playing it at Solid Hit this last year It's an old Stafford sound
  22. Too much hassle to drag my copy out at the mo but isn't there also a track using the same backing as "There can be a better way" by the Smith Brothers ?
  23. Hi Adam how you doing ? I stand corrected & apologies to Tommaso, it is indeed a fantastic double sider & one I was very happy to give £3 to manship for back in the early 80s Yes this may be an auction piece for manship but so is a casino classic monster (joke) so what does that tell us? I know this was selling for around 400 a few years back but thought the price had dropped, either way both sides are top plays & somebody should snap this up
  24. Apologies if I'm speaking out of turn & I will delete this post if you want me to but I would have thought this is only a 300 pounder at most in mint, I don't understand the posts saying this should fly out at this price. Even manship only prices it at 350 so we know it's not worth that ?
  25. Dave Brown of Philly Archives who came over with Ronnie is looking to buy 60s US garage records. If anyone coming to Solid Hit has any to sell please bring them along tonight. No extra large box fulls tho' please Also anybody attending the other venues where Ronnie is appearing who have any for sale take them along or contact Des cheers Dave
