As i'm old I was lucky enough to be able to buy this for pennies in the 70s but surely even now it's only a 30 quid record ???????- Postage To Europe
Anyone help with this, sold a record to somebody in Switzerland & the buyer has asked for it to be sent as soon as possible. He's prepared to pay any extra costs for getting it asap. I just wondered if there was some kind of express service? I know the obvious thing is to go to a post office & ask but I'm at work & my nearest is about 30 minutes away & is closed by the time I leave. Anyone help ? Thanks Dave- Magnificent 7

Funnily enough I've tried to give free nights at events but people don't want them. When we were running Soul in the City we started at 6.30 ish (midweek venue) & gave free entry up until a certain point. Some people, RBman & Pete Bennet in particular used to come down later on just so they could pay an entrance fee (or say they told us it could have been cause they were sitting in the pub down the road & were too old & lazy to get off of their arses ) Likewise at Solid Hit unofficial roadie/oddjob man/beer buyer Kev Kent always helps get the room ready even when his back is playing up & when I offer him free entry for all his help he always refuses even to the extent where he shoves his fiver physically into my box... ooh er mrs ! Good blokes for sure ...along with many others of course. Nothing wrong with a free night but I think people tend to view them with a "well if it's free it can't be much good" whereas I've been to too many that charged & were worse than "not much good"!!! However don't expect free entry at Solid Hit anytime soon !- Dena Barnes - 'these Heartaches'
Mike yes it's so often the case that the one you hear first is the one that you go with & of course 30 odd years ago I certainly listened, enjoyed & bought loads of stuff that I wouldn't give the time of day to now & there are others that though I wouldn't want to hear out I may occasionaly stick on indoors but that vocal is truly dreadful IMO. 30 years ago muriel day packed the floor....doesn't mean anything ('cept people, including me needed to clean their ears out)- Anyone Know Price For These
Imperial Cs about a tenner Keith but I'll give you 20 Hope you're keeping well mate Dave- Dena Barnes - 'these Heartaches'
Thanks for posting that Mike but blimey it doesn't ring any bells with me at all I know I did have it but if I have given it away I can see why........absolutely awful, like pinky & perky on helium......No offence fella but is that a joke Mike suggesting that it's better than Duke B ?- Dena Barnes - 'these Heartaches'
Cheers Grant, have to see if I can find it though the more i think about it the more I think I may have given it away Anyone got a soundclip to save me looking Thanks Dave- Dena Barnes - 'these Heartaches'
Hi Eddie how you doing, sure I've got a copy of These heartaches somewhere but probably 25 years or so since I last played it. are you saying that it's an alternative vocal to a well known track ? What is the original then as i didn't realise it at the time? cheers mate Dave- Help With Lyrics Driving Me Mad
Rob no it's not that simple mate the first 2 lines do appear in Dock of the bay the 3rd & 4th don't. I'm with you, sure they're in another song ............unless I'm thinking of Nick Allen Yes see you at Solid Hit mate, it's gonna be a goodie- Soulful Twins Versus Magnetics
Magnetics everytime....tho i love Soulful Twins- Help With Lyrics Driving Me Mad
Sorry Rob no i can't help you but they certainly ring a bell with me, 60s uptempo track ? ..............sure I can almost hear it- So What's A Stormer ?
Ha Ha Don't worry John I'm on later next time Actually don't consider it to be too much of a stormer to be honest ....less I wind it up to +10 Wasn't actually asking for examples (thanks anyway) just amazed at the descriptions that dealers use ......& this was a BIG dealer in the UK. Actually does it quite a lot- So What's A Stormer ?
Just been reminded by an item in sales to check out a different track by the same group. Found it on a major dealers website described as "girl group Northern soul stormer!" Clicked play to have a listen expecting something to explode out of the speakers like a dog out of the trap, instead an OKish ballad dripped weakly into my lap When did it change ? If somebody describes a record to me as a Northern Soul stormer I've always expected a meaty uptempo northen dancer. Do people out there really describe ballads as Northern stormers or is this a case of I've got a box load please buy one ?- Linneas - It's A Good Kind Of Hurt - Diamond
7 Souls ? don't see it myself ?- Pinkertones
Listen to Pinkertons assorted colours hit Mirror mirror on youtube & listen to the Queen G 45 & tell me it's the same singer NO NO NO!!!!!- Anyone See Last Night?
Really ? Had to have a listen & sufficently different in a modern girlie group way to be OKish radio foder (mind you I don't listen to radio, less it's a northern soul prog on the internet ) Yes nice pictures indeed Richard but is their version worse than the 73/74 release by Jezebels or was it the Hearts of soul or possibly even both "groups" had a release with it ?- Modern Redcaps Empty World
Sounds a bit of a bargain to me, I paid 100 for my minty demo but think it may go for a bit more ? Bloory great record Dave- Pinkertones
Yeah it's certainly a goodie Chalky, wouldn't mind one myself. Only heard it 2/3 years ago on a Wayne Hudson tape (i missed majority of the 80s ) Haven't seen Nick or Dawn for a couple of years at least. They seemed to drop off after Scenesville finished & of course their children were born & Nick was working shifts for a while. Think I recall somebody saying they had moved out of London although I think they DJd somewhere in South East London in the last year? Be good to see them out & about again Dave- In All Those Years, What Would Be Your All Time Top 10 Records?
