  1. Likewise from Me Mike. As someone who doesn't get about much now its invaluable for me for keeping in touch with the scene and old friends. And of course, for buying and selling and hearing records which would have escaped me otherwise. I'll be expecting to see your name in the New Years Honours List sometime soon Mike. Well done.
  2. Lynn Varnado. A record from the "dark side" Julian?
  3. Once again, the annual big thank you to Dave and Bev for a weekender that runs seamlessly. Highlights for me. Phil Dick playing "Cheatin Kind" and seducing me onto the dancefloor. And Saturday afternoon spent an hour or two in the company of Chris Lalor and Bruce Doyle. Crying with laughter at their memories of misspent youth! Priceless!! The next twelve months are going to seem like an eternity.
  4. Apart from being a great record, what a brilliant set of clips etc while its playing. Top stuff!!
  5. If you don't mind paying his prices, have a look at Rare Northern Soul. There was a performers on there.
  6. Much tougher then the Mean Green copies.
  7. Thought the Blues and Souls would have gone. Very cheap and like you said, great read. £2 each. Not too much more then you would have paid in 72!
  8. Mark Speakman from Funky Feet records played a Wand at Hitsville a couple of years ago. Mmm nice!
  9. Not the shape your kidneys are in Dave!!
  10. have'nt heard back from him Bri. I'll do that.
  11. Minty white demo. pm'd you.
  12. Lets be honest, most of us are record collectors first and dj's very much second! Some guys have a natural talent for djing and always sound professional (my old mate Hippo from Cheltenham for one). Every allnighter at Yate included at least one train crash behind the decks from me. But thanks to the aforementioned substance abuse (which was generally the cause), not many knew or cared!
  13. I remember being told years ago Cholli Maye was lead singer with the Shirelles.
  14. I've got this playing on my PC in my record room and I'm lying on the sofa in the front room. I can hear the dj crystal clear, it's like being there. I just missed out on the Torch but God, I wish I had'nt. Thanks for a fantastic post Jez. Now where did I put those green and clears?.....
  15. Have a very nice UK demo if you want to be flash. pm if interested.
  16. Ahah. Thought it was an absolute steal.
  17. pm'd you mint copy
  18. Depends on your taste in music. As this is a site biased towards Northern/Rare Soul (only my opinion) there should be two or three short priced favourites. However, I bet if this poll was in Japan, George Kerr would be odds on. Anyway here goes...
  19. Lola Sands To whom it may concern (Len Jewell magic) Bison. Virtually mint. £350. Dorothy Williams The wells gone dry. Goldwax. Virtually mint. Some label wear on b side. Number 3 written on label in pencil. £85. SOLD Dream Merchants. Stop you're breaking my heart. Jenges (tough first label) Once again virtually mint. £90 Jimmy McFarland "Lonely Lover" RPR WDJ vg++ probably better. £230. Luther Ingram "Ain't that nice" Decca DJ. vg+ plays perfect. £55 Darlene Love. Too late to say you're sorry. Reprise WDJ. One scuff and light marks. Apart from a couple of early pops plays great. vg+. £40. No offers please unless you want more then one. pm's please. Thanks for looking
