first hour was all I managed decided to switch off before russ annoyed me. standouts were percy sledge "out left field" ben e king "what is soul" 2 fantastic soul records. The ben e king could slip into a northern spot of uptempo rarities quite nicely.
  3. I think 360 is far mroe realistic today and 800 is too high. I would even say 250 is about right.
  4. i'd say its still very worthy of being called rare if there are 30 copies. Thats f**k all in the scheme of things.
  5. with a 20 or 50 copies find of a rare record there are two ways to go. drip them out through a network of dealers and try and get top $ for all copies and create a sense of still being very rare. This has been tried lots of times and if you pay way over it can leave bad feeling. do what happened with darling dears say openily in public you have 50 copies and sell them for $300 each in about 1 hour. I think the fairest way is the second and the fact all those sold immediaitely shows the demand is still there when the truth facts are known. with the jackie day it would be complete guess work by me just how many copies were found. I would guess that some who say it was 20, 30, 50 copies don't actually know for sure they just make these numbers up.
  6. i've seen quite a lot of jackie days in recenmt years ? its still no doubt quite rare but its by no means an impossible record to find. Having said that it will still sell for a lot of money when it comes up.
  7. its the side for me as well john but i'm already familiar with that one when I first came across this 45 some years ago I was hoping it was going to be a cheap way of getting the deep side by avoiding the tower 45. I've hardly ever seen this 45 this must only be about 3rd one i've seen.
  8. banny price "monkey see monkey do" is a fantastic instrumental full of dancefloor potential. lives in a shadows of his other 45.
  9. i'd like to hear the sam williams a side if you have a short clip you could post up or PM me. regards, dylan
  10. prehaps more people waking up to these tracks you like and look for ? more poeple moving towards lesser known 45s ?
  11. this debate does crop up a lot. if you like the music and the scene stick at it and find your way it will be an interesting journe. Some clubs you will like and others you won't. for me its one of the only true underground scenes.
  12. is this the same united as black exotics and mixed feelings ?
  13. this certainly seems the rarer of his 2 on this label. Frank i've you to thank for putting me onto both of these and this one took much longer to find.
  14. Dylan replied to a post in a topic in Look At Your Box
yes it is the same guy.
  15. i'm sure that auction price is a freak although I don't have the 45 i've seen a few and its never gone over $20 i've just been a bit lazy with getting my bid on. I know here other on sonja goes for a lot due to R&B demand so possibly somebody got the 2 45s mixed up ?
  16. Dylan replied to a post in a topic in Look At Your Box
good find. that $1500 popsike was listed on a forum for around $400ish and promptly baught then immediaely resold for the price you can see. that was the only time i've got close to a decent price copy of this 45. very good double sider.
  17. I have an eddie williams record on corsair called "tears had fallen" not sure if its the same guy ? its a mid paced soul record.
  18. yes I thought it was that side but wasn't 100% sure. I would like a clean copy of this 45 on sonja if anybody has one for sale ? flynny or kris ....... or anobody else ............
  19. what is the other side to this ike and tina turner ?
  20. I was referring mainly to the great but common records that are easily available. they get ignored. May be that everybody has them ? or not enough new collectors to buy up the stock still available. Its a whole mix of reasons. and also its a generalisation probably not true in every case just most.
  21. nobody wants cheap records .....
  22. also had the deep soul side reviewed on sirshambling so a great double sider.
  23. thats a great double sider he / they also did another which is equally as good and just as hard to find in my experience.
  24. that was my route into northrn when the house scene became stagnenet and was going nowhere fast. but I didn't do northern pre house my teenage years were spent listening to indie bands like wedding present, pixies etc etc house wise the DIY nights were great for me and they were spot on with the deep house and the atmosphere was tip top.
  25. as long as you stick a cheeky low bid on an auction its easy to find out who won if you know there ebay username.
