buying stuff to sell is indeed to part the game. I do it myself regulary to fund other purchases for my collection. but with the sequence of events we have seen unfold here it doesn't seem right and its not something i'd do. somebody who may have wanted the record has missed out to a person who has seen the opportunity to make a fast buck. Its not as if they had to even find the record its been spoon fed to them. and the darling dears isn't the real jewel in the crown to be had here................
  2. A lot of sense in there steve. the soul scene will certainly be much smaller scene than what it is now. Although events in europe like oslo soul don't rely on just a soul crowd but also attract a healty amount of younger punters just looking for a good night out. you've certainly done more than your bit for giving up and coming and younger DJs a chance. in fact you must know a large % of those who will still be involved in 10-15 years time. I also agree with the part that most people involved are collectors and to a lesser extent also would like to do a bit of DJ'ing. I hadly ever come across anybody who is just a punter. I for one am looking forward to all those cheap records.
  3. a lot of what you are calling sweet soul I would probably be more inclined to call deep soul. things like the anla 45 for example "why did I let you go" and the houserockers "peace of mind" I don't realy think they are sweet. but some good records on that list
  4. when does it stop being x-over and start being modern....
  5. are you buying or selling ? i'm interested in a copy of this.

good little clash here. rodigan gets accused of bringing a bodyguard so he just runs into crowd and dances with them
  7. last thing I listened to was side 2 of womagic. its one of his LPs I ignored but its certianly growing on me and some of the tracks are first class.
  8. i'm surpised is by FAR the better side on that 45.
  9. elijah and ebonies is mind blowing stuff if you see her again you could get a card sleeve signed for me tons on there I don't know so looking forward to listening.
  10. george is playing a lot of deep funk to the northern crowd. It was bound to happen one day as the deep funk scene is basically ended so good luck to him. I am hearing records I like that I didn';t previosuly know which is what its all about. he either joined the northern rare soul scene or listenend to his funk with 3 other people round his house. but all this funky norethern just lately is getting a bit out of hand saeems every man and his dog is jumping on it. i'm still a big fan of mid tempo and it deserves it time on the turntables. I don't agree with the arguement that music has to be uptempo all night to keep the place jumping. A set of brilliant mid tempo keeps me dancing just as much as the good uptempo. another guy I love to hear DJ is sean hampsey. I'm sure a few tunes now are starting to get the tag of "just soul" tunes.
  11. some great soul here.

  16. assmebly rooms in derby are pretty big I saw orbital live there play a great set. It would need 300 to look busy.
  17. i'm sure you have plenty of soul pack records that soon take that feeling away.
  18. 100 club and radcliffe were geographically miles apart but can't help but think numbers at both were probably effected which is a real shame. and being jan that probably didn't help. and again this weekend 3 big events all on sat. now more importantly am I going to endure a dross england performance or surf the net................ choices, choices
  19. didn't think they were represses either TBH ? still a great record and compared to some other 20 quid records worth picking up at that price. i'm sure he was signing the covers of all the copies he had up on ebay.
  20. not realy a record for at home though is it ? sounds good in a venue. can think of 2 or 3 other 45s on the label i'd rather spend my money on.
  21. thats the one I was thiunking of. I always remember vangaurds and sensations being big sounds at the same time. Probably a good while after rod had the cheap copies of the vanguards though.
  22. didn't rod dearlove had "demanding man" as a cheao front page focus tune some years ago as well ? I might be mistaken about this
  23. are you looking for the other one by any chance....
  24. does he know the grading good in record terms is not actually very good quote "A STRICTLY GRADED GOOD++++ CONDITION-PLAYS A VERY STRONG "VG"!
  25. another mint copy on ebay now.
