  1. Awww c'mon........I'm sure someone across the pond will have listed 'em as Northern Soul at some time on ebay. (Agree 100% with your post!) - Kev
  2. Don't need to, but I thought I'd finally reached an age where i can do what the fook I like without having someone on my case. .....WRONG - I now get it in the neck from my 24 yr old daughter!

The Bobby Hebb dropped through my letterbox today. (£2 - wrongly listed and mis-spelt ) and...Presentations - Call On Me. Haven't heard either played out in my neck of the woods, but will be soon. -Kev.
  4. Duh!! Now I get it. I always was a bit slow!
  5. Been a couple on there recently.
  6. Nah. It'll go on forever and I'll only get bored Isn't this a thread about music rather than a platform for individuals .

I totally agree with you Rick. I think the guy who posted is the same one who has expressed his intention of running just such a venue in London. Well it's deffo one for the tourists and I don't think I'll be going, other than for an office christmas party outing. What's the thing in the middle of the tattoo on your avatar? It looks a bit like a witchetty grub.
  8. Couldn't download it anyway 'cos "the link is now obsolete".

Yep, nice collection of Stardust 45's.
  10. Same here Tony. And I still can't figure out why I hit it on an "ever again" search, but a "Bernie Williams" search didn't find it. I don't think the seller knew what he had. He put it up as Rare but doesn't seem to sell much vinyl. It started at $5 with no reserve. In answer to a question on postage/insurance his reply seemed to be based around wether it went for more or less than $65 .
  11. Oh yeah, for the curious - $910 / £494.91
  12. OK, own up. Who just won Bernie Williams - Ever Again - Bell, on Ebay?
  13. Nearly forgot the mother of all anthems TIMI YURO - "It'll Never Be Over For Me"
  14. 8th November is an anniversary nite for my own do. Haven't seen Mick Murphy for 20 years or so - last time was at Northampton RFC. For old times sake I'd be interested to hear of anywhere else he's on. Hope the nite goes well and I'll pass the info on to my brother and his mates who are still up that way.

Here's the perfect solution, and you know you wouldn't look out of place with a shirt stretched over this. https://www.techdigest.tv/2006/04/the_beerbelly_1.html ....and I reckon it's the same company that do a similar false boob thing for the girls!
  16. Mick Murphy - another fine DJ from my youth! Would love to make this if it turns into a reunion but I'm doing a spot at the Swiss niter in Lucerne. Let us know how it goes and we'll try and make a future date. In a hotel too, so won't have to drive back to Kent.

Nooooo!!! Don't worry Hank, the box is gonna be full of upbeat 60's for the Swiss niter.

Hi Hank. I prefer the Miki Lynn version myself, on a Capitol 45 and I've seen a couple go for about £15. -Kevin
  19. Very nice. And unlike the guy in this threads first clip they could dance for more than 30 seconds. What was with the matching shirts though, they made it seem a rather contrived "dance class" sort of thing.
  20. For all those that think Souled Out will be a disappointment to them, well the good news is that most cinemas are multi-screen jobbies - so you could go and watch something else. I have a question too. Is the issue of dubbing/sub-titling decided at the production stage? It might be worthwhile considering the languages of countries with an established or fledgling "Northern" scene. Italian, Spanish, Japanese, and German (that should cover the Swiss too) immediately spring to mind (apologies to those I've missed). The european scene, being somewhat younger generally, might welcome such an insight into a past they wouldn't have personally experienced and might also be far less critical of the inclusion of Weller/Duffy/Winehouse et al. But please - no Bratwurst stalls outside the Casino! Just a thought.
  21. Martyn, that sounds like Wilby, used to go up wooden steps out the back to a long room above some sort of barn attached to the pub. I don't remember there being a bar at one end though - either that was new or I'd never noticed it as I never felt the need for alcoholic stimulation I didn't know that it re-opened in the late 70's either, but by that time I was in the army and had left the area. Did revisit the place one Sunday lunch in the 80's, just to show the missus. Had a nice conversation with the landlord: "You'd never believe the reputation this place used to have, terrible, all sorts went on here..." "Oh really?" Damn, you've really got me wondering about that bar. -Kev.
  22. Hi Del . Your dad didn't live in Victoria Road did he? Used to regularly go knocking on his door.
  23. A recent member on here Malc Gibbons (Gibby) was responsible for my introduction to the scene at the George Inn, Wilby, Northants, in the late 60's. I think he also DJ'd at Bletsoe as well as niters at Earls Barton and Kelmarsh (where I believe Ady first got into the scene). I can only speak of the Earls Barton niter which was in a smallish hall that was part of the greyhound track and some distance from the village itself. I think most niters of that early era were in small and remote places and a bugger to find. The squad knew where they were though, and roadblocks/searches/raids were not too uncommon. I even remember being in a car that was peppered with shotgun pellets by the motorbike boys that lay in ambush in the hedgerows. Happy days!

Yes, I had one piece of negative feedback (which was clearly retaliatory) and although it was less than a year old it was cancelled out when Ebay recently changed their rules to not allowing sellers to leave negatives.
