Souled Out The Film
For all those that think Souled Out will be a disappointment to them, well the good news is that most cinemas are multi-screen jobbies - so you could go and watch something else. I have a question too. Is the issue of dubbing/sub-titling decided at the production stage? It might be worthwhile considering the languages of countries with an established or fledgling "Northern" scene. Italian, Spanish, Japanese, and German (that should cover the Swiss too) immediately spring to mind (apologies to those I've missed). The european scene, being somewhat younger generally, might welcome such an insight into a past they wouldn't have personally experienced and might also be far less critical of the inclusion of Weller/Duffy/Winehouse et al. But please - no Bratwurst stalls outside the Casino! Just a thought.

Bletsoe Allnighters
Martyn, that sounds like Wilby, used to go up wooden steps out the back to a long room above some sort of barn attached to the pub. I don't remember there being a bar at one end though - either that was new or I'd never noticed it as I never felt the need for alcoholic stimulation I didn't know that it re-opened in the late 70's either, but by that time I was in the army and had left the area. Did revisit the place one Sunday lunch in the 80's, just to show the missus. Had a nice conversation with the landlord: "You'd never believe the reputation this place used to have, terrible, all sorts went on here..." "Oh really?" Damn, you've really got me wondering about that bar. -Kev.

Hi Del . Your dad didn't live in Victoria Road did he? Used to regularly go knocking on his door.

Bletsoe Allnighters
A recent member on here Malc Gibbons (Gibby) was responsible for my introduction to the scene at the George Inn, Wilby, Northants, in the late 60's. I think he also DJ'd at Bletsoe as well as niters at Earls Barton and Kelmarsh (where I believe Ady first got into the scene). I can only speak of the Earls Barton niter which was in a smallish hall that was part of the greyhound track and some distance from the village itself. I think most niters of that early era were in small and remote places and a bugger to find. The squad knew where they were though, and roadblocks/searches/raids were not too uncommon. I even remember being in a car that was peppered with shotgun pellets by the motorbike boys that lay in ambush in the hedgerows. Happy days!

Ebay Feedback
Yes, I had one piece of negative feedback (which was clearly retaliatory) and although it was less than a year old it was cancelled out when Ebay recently changed their rules to not allowing sellers to leave negatives.

40 Boots - 1 New Seller On Ebay
AUGUST UPDATE: BACK WITH 191 "Buy it now"ITEMS Well done Ebay for seemingly ignoring all the reporting of this seller (vinylrecordcutting) by the good folks on this site. Just discovered during a random search that he's back with 191 items. All the ones I looked at were blatant boots listed as "buy it now" items. AND HE'S GOT 100% FEEDBACK

Info Needed - London
Unless you're talking tourist spots a lot of places in London close down Sundays/Bank Holidays as there's no office workers about to make them viable through the day. Where abouts in London are you gonna be? If I travel from Kent to the Farnboro FC Soul nite I could detour and give you a lift there and back. (unless someone from London wants to offer a lift). -Kev.

Film: Souled Out
At the end of the day it's not intended to be a factual documentary. You can spot mistakes and flaws in just about any film you care to mention. It just happens that the subject matter here attracts the most knowledgeable and critical audience in the world! I'm sure the intent is on authenticity but maybe we'll have to allow a bit of artistic licence here?

Paulette .. Love You Baby
And he played it last night at BoogalooSoul in Greenwich. Top man!! Just a pity there weren't a few more sharing the floor with me 'cos it was certainly deserving.

Master Of Ceremonies
Nah - it was the week before.

Master Of Ceremonies
For me it just comes down to the individual DJ, not their accent. Personally I detest DJ's when they give it "Cmmonn Stoke!!!" (or wherever). Do they think we've forgotten where we are - or are we being berated for not trying hard enough!

Odd Question For You
I didn't get a PM!....but I'd already spoken to Ray on this one. Would be well worth the drive from Gillingham if only I could get away. I have to say that with the way things sink so quickly on the Events page I'd much rather be one of the select few to be PM'd by someone who thought I might be genuinely interested than miss a good nite. I've also been guilty of doing the same thing myself once. Hope no-one was offended. -Kev

Anyone For Prestwich?
And I reckon Jayne's right - people don't want to be thinking of old or current venues, just local buildings that might look similar on the outside. -Sherlock

Odd Question For You
OOer Missus! Was it that personal Ray's a nice guy and without knowing what he sent ya I'm sure it wasn't intended to be at all offensive.

Anyone For Prestwich?
My guess is that the "Souled Out" film people, who are using Kings Hall for the interior "Wigan" filming, now want any old building that looks like Wigan from the outside, to do some exterior filming.

Help
No idea on this, and not my thing at all, but good luck. Rachid, you don't frequent the Crossley Club do you?

Dancers, Dj's And Quirks Of The Dancefloor
I don't mind talc being used in moderation - but why do some tossers want to walk around sprinkling it liberally from waist height? . Ruins the floor for everyone, puts all those blurred spots on any photo's, and ends up coating the decks. Just put a bit down at the edge of the floor and get on with some dancing!

Paulette .. Love You Baby
Nice tune! Shane Cox plays this occasionally - he might have played it at Wilton and I'm certain he played it at our last "Stolen Hours" in Ramsgate.
