  1. Surprised no one's mentioned Muriel Day - Nine Times Out Of Ten - yet? Two others I think are truly awful: Black Eyed Peas - Smallest Man Alive Roosevelt Grier - Pizza Pie Man
  2. Issue just gone on ebay for £310
  3. Seen it at £400 recently. Think Shifty might have one if you're after it. Seems to have come down in price slightly over past 12 months, or so. If you get one Ste be sure to play the other side "I'm In Debt To You" Great double sider

This was also the ender which Jo Wallace would spin at that legendary These Old Shoes venue (RIP)
  6. Sorry, wouldn't have been seen dead wearing those back in the 70's, so certainly wouldn't want to be seen wearing em now

If it's a proper mint copy I'd have thought £1,000+ based on what poorer graded copies have gone for on ebay. A rare record and not one too many DJ's have in their box ! Wish I could afford it as it's one of my all time favourites.

On the U.S. Bell label. Had this a while. Never played it out. Never heard anyone else play it Has anyone else played it? Did it ever get played? Bloody 100 miles an hour, probably too fast nowadays
  9. Nice to see that someone's a happy soulie at the moment Warren. Bloody hell, with all this gloom and doom about on here lately
  10. Yes, I did too Many happy memories of the once a month Thursday nights down TOS Just couldn't wait for the next one to come around. Sounds silly I know but remember many nights walking back over London Bridge, (or jogging coz I'd stayed that extra 5-10 minutes and was in danger of missing train home), in a euphoric state That club sums up for me why people why people want to start up their own soul night, DJ etc. It was certainly one of the inspirations for starting ours
  11. Me too. Played it at Rayleigh. Mine cost £13 though Great record
  12. We started Soul @ The Mill (now Soul @ Capones) last year coz there was bugger all on, (Southend Conservative Club excepted), in this NS wilderness called Essex Some people doubted there was the demand for our type of music in our area but we thought there was, if we could get the right venue and the "chemistry" right. It certainly wasn't with a view to making any money. Main intention was to put on a night, not taking ourselves too seriously, with dancefloor friendly records that punters would attend and, hopefully, leave feeling they'd had a good night!
  13. Paid £80 for a mint one a few months back. £70 - £80 probably tops at present. Great tune. Might have to give it a spin at next Capones !
  14. Yep still there see link below /Records-Sale-t74999.html He wants £100 for it. No takers yet? Perhaps you could make him an offer JM, but trust me he drives a hard bargain
  15. Great record Should be played out more. Paid £60 for mine but that must be 5+ years ago. Would have thought £75 but seen it listed @ £100 couple of times lately. Think Martin T had one for sale on the sales section. Will have a look now see if it's still there !

I think it's a truly awseome record. Although not a stomper proper Northern Soul Rare as rocking horse s**t ! One of those hairs on the back of the neck records that when you first hear them it just reaffirms why you got into NS in the first place. When I asked Shifty about it he told me that Butch played it as a cover up. He eventually found out what it was, got one and played it as a cover up himself. He did tell me what he covered it up as but, needless to say, I can't remember

Couldn't have been, cos James Trouble coined it first
  18. This was also being discussed in the "Look At Your Box" section. See link below /Ebay-Vo...ics-t75499.html

On discussion on here,(see link below), of the silly price Vontastics "Never Let Your Love Grow Cold" went for on ebay, Steve G came up with the term "Hot Box record". Correct me if I'm wrong Steve, but seems to infer a record getting lots of plays which is in everyone's play box. So what are the other "Hot Box records" at present? /Ebay-Vo...ics-t75499.html

Perhaps it's a potential cover up

Just gone for $261 on ebay with 18 bids ! See link below. Always thought this was a relatively cheapie? Am I missing something, is this getting hammered, hence the above bid? https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...A:IT&ih=011
  22. Ellie Greenwich "Baby" great record Should be hammered! Sorry got one but not for sale, took me ages to find one! Not massively expensive (in the greater scheme of things) but a hard one?
  23. Yes, but do we all really care about "folk looking in". NS - you either get it, or you don't Trying to preach to the unconverted is just a complete waste of time ! As for the KGF - good record, I quite like it, wouldn't mind hearing it out again, (I was at The 100 Club) last month, but 3 times in one night, come on ? As for it ever being a top 500 NS tune - never, no where near (IMHO of course)

I'd have thought you'd be very lucky to get hold of one for a tenner Would have thought at least £30 for a good un in this day and age! Great record
