New Soul Releases
It's such a good album. Their best yet.

What was your first boot?
Thanks Rick. I didn't know Global had done that and, though I was in Global most Saturdays, don't remember seeing any of those in there.

What was your first boot?
My Mechanical Man - Leah Dawson & the Choker Campbell Orchestra Bought for 10p in about '73 from a box in room above a stationers in Chorlton along with several excellent legit releases. Never heard it but bought on because of Choker Campbell's name on the label. Loved it and was gutted to find 30 years later that it was a boot. Why someone would've booted that is beyond me!

Time Out - Death of the two-step: how old school dancing ...
The Guardian had an article today about how young people don't go out. They apparently go to the gym instead. I guess it depends on which young people the journalist chooses to ask.

Andy Pebbles: R.I.P.
Soul Train was compulsory listening in the mid 70's. Andy regularly had good Northern guests on too. He used to DJ at the Village in Stretford as well. I chatted to him about music a few times when I used to bump into him at the cricket at OT. Nice fella.

Uk record shops doc
Fabulous! Really enjoyed that. Happy memories of going to Expansion to buy something specific and leaving with half a dozen that Dean had talked me into.

JM Sale
Nope. Genuinely pleased. Unbothered by the delay. Life's too short.😀

I guess I am one of the last to get their order filled. Twenty-odd 45's ordered. Two months later they turned up. All present and correct and all in the stated condition. Couldn't be happier!

Pat Brady's Talk Of The North
Thanks for posting those. They brought back some great and some not so great memories. Maybe I'm biased but a bit harsh on Edwin at the Ritz.

Health Fitness Wellbeing Sport Topic
I'm still running as much as my crocked knee permits and volunteering at Parkrun. The 65-70 age category is seriously competitive. I go to the gym and swim every morning Mon - Fri. Plenty of walking and cycling too. Walking football sadly folded. The funding was aimed at getting unfit people to start exercising but it mostly got people who were already pretty active so they pulled it. I keep meaning to find another one to go to...

Clean Gene Chandler- Any Favorites?
Does She Have a Friend? or I Can Take Care of Myself - hard to separate those two for me.

Abdul `Duke` Fakir, passed away today...
RIP Duke. That's a really defined an end of an era for me. The Tops were the first act I saw live. Manchester Odeon early 70's. The memory of it is as fresh today as if it were yesterday. I also memorably saw them when they toured with an empty stool on the stage after Lawrence had died. Levi's voice up front and the Tops harmonies were peerless. Bless them all!

Holland-Dozier-Holland - Detroit 1969-1977
Looks an excellent introduction to HDH post Motown work. I have the fabulous 14 CD box set: Holland-Dozier-Holland Complete 45s Collection so it's not aimed at me.

From pillowy pop to foot-stomping beats: 'The Supremes’
Come See About Me and He's All I Got should be there. Supremes & Four Tops - A Taste of Honey is probably out of scope, but it's a personal favourite.
