  1. Right Paul, what I was told at the time, (noway of knowing if it is true). When Russ claimed to have over 100,000 members, billboard give it one vote per member. If anybody knows anything else please post. Dave.
  2. Just noticed that issue no 107 was for July, (no Aug.)
  3. I got the Sept 2009 issue no 108, not seen Oct yet. The sept one as a young Micheal Jackson on the cover.
  4. It wasn't only Cleethorpes that played these type of record. the Mecca, the Ritz and even Wigan played alot of them.
  5. I don't get up so early.
  6. Little Jewel was know back than by collecters and dj's but wasn't really pushed in the bigger clubs. Too cheap at the time to be played out, you could pick it up for a £1 or so. Same with Carol Anderson Taking my mind../I'm not worried, alot turned up in soul-packs back than.
  7. Velvey Satins one of the all-time great fast records. Inst-wise Freddie McCoy "Soul Yoga" about 100mph.
  8. Sorry Ted already posted before I read this.
  9. Yes Ted Massey has my old copy, which was the 1st one Neil Ruston got from Disco Bob. Richard Searling's copy was the 2nd, Barry Waddington got that one into the UK.
  10. A lot of us though that when it was 1st played. Like I said earlier not one of my fav's from back than, but it sounds great now.
  11. Did they come from Tracy Island.
  12. Must have been a top night, Joan.
  13. Never a big money record back in the day, I sold mine for about a fiver. I think Dave Fergie (veep) sold his for less than that. Very much a case of demand outstrips rarity.
  14. The last Kent Ann single, = Jackie Day is great for claping to.
  15. I have still got a Levine must go badge somewhere They were cheap homemade badges with a pin on the back.
  16. Ya, it it was in a hotal, there weren't that many and the 1st was best.
  17. Sorry Dave, I don't know why I thought it it was D.W. & P.D. Anyway I might have got part of it right. Dave. P.S. Did Phil run The Griffin in Leeds.?
  18. Yes the Ritz sold alcohol, but not all night. Judith always had a bottle in her bag.
  19. Never really cared if there,s a alcohol or not, almost every nighter I have been to since the mid-70s I have drove there. I think most people at nighters are ok when they have had alcohol. Which was the 1st nighter to sell alcohol all-night? The 1st one I can think of was Bolton's Pigeon Fancyers Club mid-90s? I think it was run by Derek Watmore & Phil Dick. I remember the shock Chris Sheppard got when he was told the bar open all night. Dave.
  20. Mark, the link is not working (on mine anyway) Hope you are keeping well. Dave.
  21. Sad Divs.
  22. Hi Ritchie, I didn't know you had The Inspirations in between Neil & Colin. Anyway I hope you are keeping ok and hope to see you back at Burnley soon. Yours Dave.
  23. You sure did Dave, did you get the Janie Grant & Christine Cooper stock copies as well? Dave.
  24. Ya Neil. I owned it after (via Colin & Sam), Barry Waddington got the 2nd copy late 79/early 80. Richard got it off him in swops & cash. I got some great stuff off Bob C. I got M.Champion off him blind, you can't believe how good it felt when Colin 1st played it at the Mecca covered up as Jodi Williams. I remember running around the Highland Room, telling people I knew, I've got this, I've got this. Other stuff off Bob, Soul Patrol, Fabulous Jades, Johnny Baker, stock copy of Alice Clark etc good times. Dave.
