Souled Out
Haven,t seen it yet Paul but defo trust your take on these things, sadly I reckon as you have stated that whenever the scene comes under the spotlight the incorrect perception is always displayed. So, it will carry on that, whenever you go to a birthday bash or an engagement do etc, and the DJ says "and now for some northern soul" and then proceeds to play "Nine times out of ten" and "3rd finger left hand", someone will turn to you and say "you are into all this stuff aren,t you", well we know where they are getting their assumptions from again. What Are The Rare Records?
Happy New Year Brett, rarest I have I think is Nathan Williams-What Price-UA, have read conflicting opinions on which one is rarer, the UA or Lime, another one that I am curious about is The Voice Masters-Two Lovers-Frisco, not that well known, and I have never seen it in a sales box (maybe not looking hard enough) Got mine before the Internet and it took me 10 years to get one (tried prising Craig Butlers off him) Kev

Elton John/danny Baker
Speaking in general terms really, the original post just prodded a nerve with regards to the Don Covay opinion that I have, wasn,t really focusing on the Elton John situation, just I can,t remember Rod Stewart coming on the mainstream thanking Bobby Womack for "Don,t you think I,m sexy" backing track which he took from "If you want my love", there are other examples, perhaps Elton was to be credited with championing soul music, but in general terms soul music has been exploited without enough specific credit being given back. In hindsight maybe should have kept away from the Elton situation. Kev

Elton John/danny Baker
My mistake Felonious, thought I had read it a while ago, he was very ill from a stroke in 1992 and looked to be on the way out, I stand corrected, but am still of the opinion somebody went to the bank off the back of this great artist. Kev

Yeah, Miracle Woman, what a tune, the flip is on a different album from "Miracle", "Sooner" is on the "First Impressions" set and I am certain "Miracle" is from the "This is my country" set which also provides the impressive "Look what I got" all in all a great group. Kev- What's Been Your Favourite Venue Of 2009 ?
As my good friend Kirsty has already stated Just Soul was fantastic and in my opinion primed for legendary status, Yarmouth weren,t half good aswell, until a couple of years ago was a regular at Lifeline and have made a pact with my mate Mr Simon that we need to re-establish the attending, locally, The Coachman in Darlington is starting to create a buzz and gets my recommendation wholeheartedly. Here, here Andy, but how intimidated must that group who followed her have been, the voice and the delivery were there for all to see and here, and then the genuine rapturous applause, and she was only getting warmed up, they must have thought how the fook to we follow that.
