Great handclapping!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVU5Xz6NPLQ- Whats The Difference Between A Good Dj And A Great Dj?
I don't like being called a 'DJ' in the few instances I've been asked to jockey the Ds. I collect records I personally enjoy and am not interested in buying stuff just because it's popular or in demand. Maybe that's why I don't get asked to more events!- John Manship's Tease Auction
Thought Manship allowed you to withdraw from an auction?- The Motown 7S Box Set: Rare And Unused
Judging by all the complaints...who's packing these box sets? Stevie Wonder??- Any "cockernees" Remember Vinyl Solution?
What was the shop in Tooting? Used to go there when I was visiting my sister who lived in Balham in the early 80s.- Winstanley's Disoveries?
Now is it true that he once played 'My Generation' when the Mod revival crowd started turning up in '79?- Why Allnighters - Back In The Day?
I seem to recall someone (Keb Darge?) talking about kidding venues that they were actually holding 'charity dance marathons' as saying 'it's an all-night soul music event' might have given people the wrong impression...- Frank Beverly Sassy W/d 'if That's What You Wanted'
Re-advertised due to last potential buyer messing me around... Nice clean white demo of one of Northern Soul's greatest tracks. B side is 'Love your pain goes deep' VG+ condition, only due to it having visible scratch marks which do not affect play. Label is clean without writing. £350.- Stewart Ames 'angelina'
- John Manship Auction Results 13-11-2013
Average price for the Little Joe Hinton? Seems a lot for a record I've seen on ebay now and again for around £400. Maybe I'm out of touch.- Stewart Ames 'angelina'
Wanted: a nice copy - VG+ or above - preferably yellow issue but demo considered. Will pay £450 tops. Cheers!- I Think I'm Out Of Touch With Prices
Wasn't there one in Sales for a good price which seems to have disappeared and Manship had an issue and a demo recently and they've both gone too. Is something going on? Could we be on the verge of a massive Ted Taylor price inflation situation? Ah, who cares I'm off to get some toast.- Frank Beverley Sassy White Demo 'if That's What You Wanted'
Er...so does anyone want it!- Frank Beverley Sassy White Demo 'if That's What You Wanted'
B side is 'Love your pain goes deep'- Frank Beverley Sassy White Demo 'if That's What You Wanted'
Nice clean white demo of one of Northern Soul's greatest tracks. VG+ condition, only due to it having visible scratch marks which do not affect play. Label is clean without writing. £350.- Franky Beverley- If That's What - Sassy Promo Tentative Request
I have got a nice loud copy for sale (estimate VG+ - EX-, A few visual scratch marks that don't affect play, clean label, no writing, run-off groove stamps all in order). The hard part? Price £350.- Is This A Trend.......a Bad One
Yes indeed, one of the many laughable sentences on this record's blurb. Personally I like 'Real Instruments Including Members Of The London Philharmonic Orchestra'- Northern Soul Top 500 Time For A Review
- Has Anyone Ever Renewed A Label?
Can no-one be trusted???!!!! Might try doing that myself actually just to annoy people...- Is Rnb Northernsoul?
I first encountered this bicker-fest around the time of Stafford when more 'RnB' tinged stuff was being played mostly by Keb and Guy. Quite a few of the hardened Wiganites I knew were very scornful of the likes of Arthur Alexander or Stewart Ames becoming popular with the younger crowd. On the other hand they all ran off and bought copies of Tommy Navarro (boot or otherwise) and that was Latin! Oooh, I don't know, there's nowt as queer as folk.- Poll: Bbc Culture Show - Northern Soul - Your Take ?
It was a more personal look at Northern Soul than an objective programme might have been, so I wasn't too bothered. What I would really like to see is a show purely about the music - taking say, 5 representative records and finding out where they came from, who recorded them, how they ended up in the UK and why people love them. That would be more interesting and put the music at the forefront where it should be.- Who Were These Seamen Bringin Back Rare Records To Liverpool?
You only have to look at the London Records discography to see that masses of stuff was available to UK record buyers in the early 60s assuming they knew what they wanted! - Northern Silent Niter?
