  1. These articles are BRILLIANT! Classic quotes.. "there are more ways to kill a pig than choking it to death!!" "If I had a bomb I'd have blown it (the Casino) up 2 years ago" Also a comprehensive list of drink prices!!
  2. This "cover-up" has now found it's way onto the JM Auction. Not covered-up! Shirley Johnson - Too Big To Cry, as someone mentioned previously in the thread I think.
  3. Rock Candy Demo.
  4. "Velours", "Judy Freeman" and "Towanda Barnes" issues are much less common than the Demo's which are about a fair bit.
  5. Just noticed this on Youtube. I liked it. It's Cecil Washington (in 2011) singing the USA National Anthem. A couple of things came to mind - How GOOD he is - Didn't know he had dealt with Throat Cancer. And this was AFTER he'd had Cancer. hope he's OK now. (apologies if previously posted) https://youtu.be/7JaP7Qq7VTY
  6. Agreed. With the bonus of the Honeybees instrumental on the B side.
  7. I'll have to catch up on those another day I need to be in bed by 10pm these days on account of too much "living for the weekend" in the 70's (when I used to start to get ready to go out an 10pm)
  8. Just noticed the "Northern Soul - Living for the weekend" is being repeated on BBC 4 tonight (27th March 2015) at 9pm. The whole episode is already on youtube for those who can't wait!! https://youtu.be/1P9bNEwbvNU
  9. I've got one of those as well!! Never found out what the tunes are. Did manage to get a white demo with the right one's on a little later (snap with post above )
  10. Re Rouser - The El Corols "Chick" version on Rouser also has the edited start.
  11. Hi Folks Looking for a Silky Hargraves Dearborn ISSUE please. Not looking for a demo. Must be in at least EX condition. Please PM with the price you are looking for. I'll either say Yes Please or No thanks. Please don't ask me to make an offer. Cheers Kev Bod Sorted now thanks.
  12. Rufus Lumley - "Stronger Than Me" and Earth, Wind and Fire - "Got to get you into my life" both remind me of Yate. I only went about 5 or 6 times. Doris Troy - "I'll do anything" reminds me of Wigan. The first time I went was September Oldies night 1977. It was being re-released on Pye that week and they played it in the main room 7 times!!!!!
  13. Thanks for the reply's so far There are 7 on the Popsike like above in post #1. Not that many. With a few listed on here - not sure if any were the same copies circulating. Sometimes more expensive records are highly regarded but when it comes to selling they can stick for a while.
  14. After checking the sound clip of the JR & Soulettes, I was surprised that anybody bid at all!! Couldn't see any merit in it - £33 seems a bit steep to me Is this being played out by anyone (apologies to anyone who counts this as among their all time fav's )
  15. Have considered buying this original. Thought I'd get a few opinions on price. I've checked popsike (I know it's not the last word in prices!!) and sale figures over time have been between £200 and £449. I've seen it for sale on here a few times for much more. Any views? Thanks. https://www.popsike.com/php/quicksearch.php?searchtext=ellusions&pagenum=1&incldescr=&sortord=dprice&thumbs=&currsel=3
  16. I think that one had a small bit of writing on the label - "MUFF" I think !!!!!!!! That's a hell of an expensive Muff if it cost the best part of £500.
  17. There's also one on the JM auctions. That'll be interesting to see how it ends.
  18. Sold today, Millionaires - Never For Me - 70's plastic label re-issue......£93.76 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MILLIONAIRES-NEVER-FOR-ME-1967-MERCURY-RECORDS-NORTHERN-SOUL-CLASSIC-/151595320515?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2047675.l2557&nma=true&si=9W4pUndqxk2i6zW8OH9J3SKaJvY%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

I'm sure my DEMO is vinyl - bought from Station Road in about 1978. I've only seen styrene ISSUES though.
  20. It's also very useful to be able to search Soul Source for a permanent archive of the John M Auction results. Please keep posting
  21. I think they've already got that covered . They are called "100% Vinyl Only".
  22. That depends on if you are Buying or selling
  23. Someone on Soul Source a few years back commented on a thread discussing venues that describe themselves as Original Vinyl Only - OVO. They put forward the idea that venues such as the one you attended should advertise as playing "Carvers, Reissues And Pressings". This could then be abbreviated to "CRAP" and they could advertise as such. You would then have CRAP DJ's and CRAP venues playing CRAP. No offence intended.

If it's just to play your records, I'd recommend a NAD 3020. I bought one new in about 1987 and still going strong !!! Very basic, no frills, good enough to make a right old racket in most homes. Simply plug your deck and speakers into the back and away you go. Can also plug in CD and Tuner (and tape deck!!) Plenty second hand on eBay - about £80
