  1. No - it was scheduled for release on Blue Rock right about the same time the label was shutting down. I can't find an exact date but, you can tell by this article it's the beginning of the end for the label-
  2. Yes- from what I remember the seller said they got them from someone who worked at a pressing plant.
  3. As long as we're on Mercury, this is very hard to find on Blue Rock-
  4. I've only seen this version. Do you have a pic of the Mesley variation ?
  5. Lee Young was the owner of Melic Records. He later went to work for Vee Jay which distributed the Melic Label. The John Wesley on Vivid would make more sense on Vee Jay but for some unknown reason ended up on Vivid.
  6. Sorry to hear about this - here's another classic from the Ronettes-
  7. Cashbox (June 29,1968 issue) also saw the potential in "They'll Never Know Why" and rated it as a "Best Bet"-
  8. Can't see this being spun a lot on a Northern Dance floor- I guess it's possible though-
  9. The only other mention I could find was in Cashbox (Sept.16, "67). "Smile" was listed as a "Best Bet" and "A MIghty Good Way" received a B+ rating.
  10. Here you go -
  11. Sure- Dave Moore's "The Philly Sound" .
  12. I believe Brother's Guiding Light is the Dreamlovers with a new name. So - group members should be Don Hogan, Tommy Ricks, Cleveland Hammock and Cliff and James Dunn.
  13. "They'll Never Know Why" did make it to "Local Spotlight" status on one of Albequerque's stations-
  14. I think that's a very good possibility- David Nunez wrote one side of the Dave Newman 45 and was also lead singer on this single by The Chekkers-
  15. Yes- the Jazz saxophonist stuck to instrumentals .
  16. Besides KGFJ, I could only find it getting play on this radio station where it just made the Top 30 -
  17. I don't remember seeing Dee Dee Barnes stock copies or hearing it on the radio. In fact, I don't remember ever seeing promos or stocks of this around the Chicago area.
  18. One more for the list- this is not the same song as the Little Milton tune already posted-
  19. There is a Marv Johnson version that exists on acetate and the Temptations did a version on their "Temptations Sing Smokey" album.
  20. A few more for the list- O'Kaysions- "Deal Me In" Tico and the Triumphs- "Cards Of Love" Alicia Meyers- "If You Play Your Cards Right" Persuaders- "Gamblin' On A Sure Shot"
  21. Little Milton covering both sides of a card game -
  22. "My Baby.." was on an album that was released in 1959 so it's okay for this thread. I've heard "Drip Drop" by the Drifters and Big Maybelle's "I Got A Feeling" got a few spins.
  23. I meant the same thing- I should have said a white label promo with the curved Calla logo ! The 70's promos have the straight across Calla logo.
