About 6 or 7 years ago,I was on e-bay and I noticed a lot of 100 45's that had a 7 day listing- all 45's were listed. About 90% of it was from the 70's, there were a few promos and I did spot one 45 I really wanted. With one minute left I place my bid of $200 and kept my fingers crossed. When the auction ended, I won the lot for $20- no one else bid on it. What was the 45 I wanted - Herb Ward- "Strange Change". To this day, I still don't know how I won that auction !

Both are probably originals- Wand usually used the black writing on promos and red for issues. But... I've seen a lot of Wand issues with black writing.

It looks like the album got released last Thursday if anyone is interested .

Let's hope people get their info from Manship's web site who currently has the 45 up for auction and says this is a different group of Dramatics.

Thanks for posting the article. The 1st time I went to Val's shop I felt like I was on a job interview- he asked me at least 20 questions before I could even look around the store. He let me look in the front of the store and as we talked he let me go to a room behind the counter and look at the perfectly filed 45's. He may be a little tough to deal with at first but once he gets to know you, he's a different person. He told me stories of people who came in waving cash and buying a few 45's and then later finding 1000's of dollars of rare Doo Wop 45's were missing from his store. So I can understand his attitude to new customers. But all in all, a great place to shop!

Not sure about the Andantes theory- listen to them backing Amos Milburn about a year later. There's a huge difference between the backing vocalists on "Let Me Be Your Boy" and this group-

You might have a Canadian press- "Get On Up"/ "Listen To Me" did come out on Bunky in Canada according to this survey (#18) -

Both releases (1957 and 1964) are on you tube. They sound the same to me.

Dossie Terry was born in Georgia as Dorsey Terry and had been recording since the mid 40's. "Thunderbird" was 1st released in 1957 and was re-released by King in the 60's

The Magnificent 7 also were known as the Magnificents-

Broadway was still using the silver labels in 1966 which was when "World without Sunshine" was released. See survey below # 37 ). There was also a red label "pressing" -

The prices are correct. The Drifters was described as being "so close to a Manship mint" and the Sweet Things was in "impossible flawless condition" The bidder was told to "act accordingly". I guess in these times-
