What If Jackie Wilson Had Signed For Motown?
I would have to agree completely. His Brunswick work pre "Whispers" doesn't do much for me at all. One of his strangest albums was "You Ain't Heard Nothing Yet" the track listing says it all -

Alternate 45 cut Isley Bros This old Heart of mine ?
I just played both versions of "When I'm Gone" back to back and I didn't notice any difference either. So whatever the difference is. it has to be very subtle.

A Cellarful Of Motown Volume 5 - CD set Out Now
I think I can answer my own question- there is none! A few years back, I was involved in a CD swap on another web site and one of the tracks I got was labelled "True Fine Boy" - Saundra Edwards. I just listened to it, its the same instrumental as on CFOM #5.

Got my CD. My question is did "True Fine Boy" by Saundra Edwards ever get released on CD?

Alternate 45 cut Isley Bros This old Heart of mine ?
Yes but ....... If you look at the 1st version I posted, the info is WIL 190303 and it's the 2:51 version, the 2nd copy is WIL-193302 - the 2:46 version. Chalky's copy shows 190203 and is also the 2:51 version which is why I suggested a typo. The Complete Motown Singles- Vol. 6 - 1966 only shows 2 versions released.

Alternate 45 cut Isley Bros This old Heart of mine ?
I've got to admit that looks like WIL-190203. But on this cleaner variation that looks like it came from the same pressing plant, the number looks like WIL-190302. So I don't know if your label has a typo or if that number is a 3 instead of a 2.

i guess what started out as a good idea for promotion ( handwriting each disc jockey's name on the label) turned out to be way too much work and so they just left Leo the Lion on the deejay copies.- A Cellarful Of Motown Volume 5 - CD set Out Now
The real Marc Gordon -- Alternate 45 cut Isley Bros This old Heart of mine ?
According to "The Complete Motown Singles- Vol. 6- 1966, there are 2 different mixes to "This Old Heart...". Brian Holland mixed the 1st version and Lawrence Horn did the 2nd mix which has more echo and a few things added. Not sure which is which though . According to my cd player, the 1st version is longer.- Track ID Please...
- MGM Demo's
I'm pretty sure that MGM used the lion on demos from the early 50's (maybe even late 40's) until sometime in 1968. Here are 2 promos from '68 one with and without the cartoon character-- A Cellarful Of Motown Volume 5 - CD set Out Now
I don't think Barbara's version of "I'm So Thankful" fits that scenario. According to the Don't Forget The Motor City web site, the Ikettes version of the song was recorded on August 14, 1965. The Barbara Randolph version of "I'm So Thankful" was recorded on March 31, 1967- almost a year and a half later ! "The Touch Of Venus" would make a bit more sense- Marvin's version was recorded on June 22, 1964, Patrice Holloway's version on September 10, 1964. Sandy Wynn's version is hard to pin point -it was probably recorded soon after Patrice's version. Sandy's 45 had a late '64/ early '65 release.- Emoji quiz soul tracks
This was a really tough contest-especially the last 2! Thanks to flaming emeralds for putting this together (which I'm sure took a lot of time). Happy to see so much participation !- A Cellarful Of Motown Volume 5 - CD set Out Now
Any idea when this will be available in the U.S. ? I've tried Amazon, Dusty Groove, e-bay and discogs (if you type in Cellar Full of Motown, it brings up a Patti Labelle????? CD) . There's no mention of it on any U.S. sites.- Emoji quiz soul tracks
