Diamond1 51 Posted September 30, 2016 Well, we've been away for a month, and now we are back in business. Also added to this months great line up of DJs is "Tall Paul" from Ramsbottom. He will be playing the last hour. It seems like an age, and are we ready for a blast? Hope we get a fantastic crowd in, what should be a great night. Regards Diamond. Link to comment

Soul Galore 8 Posted October 13, 2016 So very sorry to hear this is your last night. We've been several times every year but not every month and we've always enjoyed every time we've been. The music has always been a great mix, something you don't hear at other events. We will miss you so very much. Good luck in whatever you choose to do in the future and thank you so very, very much for all the fabulous times we've had. Our love and best wishes, Dawn & Andy Link to comment

Twoshoes 1,336 Posted October 14, 2016 Sad news indeed, Rammy's now lost two of it's three Soul nights albeit the Civic has re located to Radcliffe, great memories of Rammy will never fade, a ton of thanks to Des and the lovely Bev not forgetting Andy and Dave who have given Des and Bev great backup and support plus the ever smiling girls on the door who assist Bev. doesn't seem that long since I posted along the lines of you never know what you've got till it's gone and now it has but in this case I think we all knew what a good thing Rammy was. Looking forward to what will no doubt be a sad but special night ,a tenner says Mr Softy will have more than a few tears in the old eyes along with a few others. Link to comment
Soul On The Edge 15 Posted October 14, 2016 (edited) Sad news Indeed! Had some great nights at "The Rammy" - always great music played that you don't hear at most other venues, always found the crowd to be really friendly and the atmosphere top notch. I remember the night we travelled over from Blackpool in a snowstorm, we made sure we got there and didn't care how we got home! Thank you Des & Bev for all the great nights you have given us - your passion for your events and the friendliness of you both as we arrived is going to be missed - BIG time. Good luck for the future, your nights at "The Rammy" will always be special to us and be remembered for ever! Edited October 14, 2016 by Soul on the Edge 1 Link to comment

Guest Andrew Holmes Posted October 16, 2016 What a cracking night and a fitting tribute to Des, Bev and crew for all the their hard work and love of the music which made Rammy a very special soul night and friendly venue. Always a great crowd who attended. The sadness of the final night is outweighed by the 12 years of fantastic memories that everyone can cherish. So good luck for the future Des and Bev and see you at the next venue. Raise a glass to new beginnings, thanks for everything. From your eternal groupies Anne and Andy xx Link to comment
graeme b 7 Posted October 16, 2016 Thank you Des & Bev for a superb night @ Rammy CC - it was an honour to DJ for one last time "in the kitchen" Karen and I have got so many happy memories of nights with the Rammy crew, but we're looking forward to making more as you move on to pastures new! "Keep on keepin on" doing what you do. All the best Graeme & Karen xx Link to comment
Diamond1 51 Posted October 16, 2016 End of an era!!!. Many thanks for a great "final" night at Rammy Cricket Club. The support Bev and I have received over the past 12 years has been unbelievable. Some of our friends have been with us since day one, others have come and gone. We hope that we have left you with some memorable moments? Time for a short break for now, we will be back in the New Year with a new venue. Watch this space!!. PS Thanks for the comments and Bill for the brilliant poem. Regards Des & Bev Jones. Ronnie Mccarthy 5 Posted October 16, 2016 Great night . Music brilliant. Even had a few swings of the old pegs.Sad to lose this venue, but with Des and Bev in charge, any venue would be a success. Last night was full of so many memories and emotions. The superb poem that Des read out summed it up perfectly . Anyway...Onwards and upwards. Cant get the Barbara Cooper song out of my head. We love you both. All the best...... Ronnie and Fran. Link to comment
Twoshoes 1,336 Posted October 16, 2016 I've been asked by Des to post up the poem I wrote for Des and Bev that Des himself read out on the night RAMMY When the needle lifts off the last record, and the kitchen light fades out to black as the decks slowly spins to the silence, the realisation there aint no coming back when the last goodbyes have been spoken, red lips pressed to goodbye cheeks there’ll be tears in the eyes of the punters, no Rammy in another four weeks Doug Banks may have kept on dancing, Tommy, cried his life away Andy and Dave played a blinder, and Des had his final say they can take away the venue, they can say it no longer pays but they can’t take memories and friendship, that will last till the end of our days Where else can you walk out the toilet’s, to find yourself out on the floor where can you find decks in the kitchen, who else has a Bev on the door where will you find a diamond, with a handshake ready to share you can search the northwest forever, I tell you, you’ll find this nowhere So that’s it , the end of an era, the cricket club is no more faceless men on a committee, hide behind the members door they’ve pulled the plug on a legend, they’ve stabbed Diamond in the back but somewhere, someday smiling, the dynamic duo WILL BE BACK Link to comment
