Timbo58 249 Posted July 10, 2019 We saw the flyer at St Ives last weekend. Is the Jersey weekend an OVO event? There's at least a dozen of us from the SW who are very interested currently, so please let me know. Link to comment

Greasychipbutty 35 Posted February 8, 2020 Wow can't believe it's only another week until the 2020 Jersey Soul Weekend. Really looking forward to catching up with everyone from around the UK and channel islands, as well as all the lovely staff at the Mayfair, that we have become good friends with since the very first event in 2009. Great DJ line up as usual in the main room, but don't forget to come and support Rob, Clive and myself Jim D in the Motown and Club Classics room. Safe journey everyone. See you next weekend. KTF. 1 Link to comment
Vadnochka 311 Posted February 17, 2020 OVO my arse - flagrant lie - No more Northern weekender than King Power is - SW visitors would be misled - Best DJ - Collector on the island gets shunted on to warm up during dessert / table clearing - glad I didn't waste my money and travel from mainland - plenty of opportunities here to have a drink with proper sounds without the prospect of dodging fog / storms / cancellations - Save your money next year - I've had a look at some of the play-list's - disgrace - should be ashamed. Vadnochka 311 Posted February 19, 2020 Hand written by an interested punter in attendance at the Mayfair who could see the way the event was progressing from early Friday. Female dj excepted. Link to comment
Mark Tobin 39 Posted February 19, 2020 This event is a superbly organised week end. The transfers to and from the airport were on time plus The Mayfair is a three star hotel and is spotless. Its only ten minutes to the heart of the St Helier. plus the rest of the island is stunning if you want to tour it. The food is excellent considering they are catering for 400 plus. The staff are superb and plentiful, not much queing at the bar. Some of the music wasn't to my taste but the dance floor was busy all the time. I could also listen to great tunes at home or have a drink but i chose to socialise with like minded people. We had a great time meeting people from all over the UK and the atmosphere was also good. I attended for the first time last year and will go again in 2021. This isn't the only weekender i attend and have been into this genre since the late sixties. They do a really good job. I do agree with the music whilst clearing for the evening meal though, but maybe thats when he wants to play his sounds. 1 Link to comment
Sewingsue 4 Posted February 20, 2020 hi, i was the female dj (sue). been coming to jersey for 6 years and we love the atmosphere and thoroughly enjoyed the weekend. meeting old friends and new. we all like different records , and over the weekend some we liked some we didnt , but the dance floor tells the story which usually was full. some people dont like my taste of music and when i play my set i usually try to play something a bit different, from northern to rnb and even played a rockabilly track. all were played on ovo and will gladly send anyone a playlist. thank you vadnachka for you kind comment. will be in jersey god willing again next year. sue Link to comment
