Ashton Ukrainian Club - Ashton-under-lyne

WOW,WOW,WOW Ashton Ukrainian Club Anniversary exceeded all expectations. Nearly every table in the main room was taken just after the 7.30 pm start and yet again more new faces, sampling the unique atmosphere!!

Great to see the old Wilton Niter Crowd for their first visit!! Well we reached and(maybe ssshh) exceeded club capacity, to the point where I was almost crowd surfing to reach the bar!!

The music was off the chain, great opening set as ever from Phil Dunn closely followed by one of our resident guest DJs Steve Skopek, who didn't disappoint with a great set.

Next up the eagerly anticipated return of Chris "Dab of Soul" Anderton with a sublime mix of classic niter sounds mixed in with some 70s biggies, the rare and just plain great soul records regardless of price/rarity all received with aplomb by the dance floor.

Ted Massey followed and the usual top quality mix of styles Killer R+B, current niter sounds and a liberal sprinkling of classy crossover kept the dancefloor heaving.

Chris Churm finished the night off, in fine style with some great feedback from people who were experiencing the night for the first time!!

The ethos and direction of the club worked to perfection, blending the headline DJs and local collector DJs knocking it out of the park!!

Our next event is Saturday February 18th when we welcome Ginger Taylor Phil Wainwright, Alex Jones and the return of Les Harrison.

Lastly a HUGE thank you to the hard working bar staff, who, if you didn't know are all volunteers and kindly agreed to let us carry on till 1am, hopefully this will be a regular fixture!

What more can you say than the Ukrainian club was absolutely banging and full to the rafters last night. A brilliant night big thanks to Chris Churm Mick Howard and the lads for asking me again to grace the decks. Some brilliant collections on display my fellow guests Steve Skopek and Chris Anderton played brilliant sets. Lovely surprise to see my old friends Geoff and Margret Buckley. We even had 2 visitors from South Wales Tina and Fudge. To many friends to mention but it was brilliant to see you all. Oh and thanks to Winsford Steve for reminding me to tribute Karl Rhodes  with Hayes Cotton Black Wings have my angel

Hats off to all the DJ's who filled the dancefloor with their fabulous sets, the promoters  who make the magic happen and especially the bar staff who do a wonderful job every month.

Can't wait for another fix of sublime souling.
