About The Event

The Ashton Ukrainian club has gone from strength to strength following the re-launch in 2021 and a move to Saturday night. For 2025 we're looking once again to continue delivery quality rare and underplayed soul from the residents and ever growing list of outstanding guests.

Speaking of ‘Rare & Underplayed Soul’ we use that phrase to capture what Ashton tries to deliver musically, which is worth expanding upon.

Mainly it's an attempt to move away from the standard music policy strap lines we’re all so used to seeing like; Northern, 60s & 70s, Crossover, Modern, across the board etc. etc. whilst genuinely trying to capture an ethos. The words ‘rare’ and ‘underplayed’ are intended to apply both in their own right and together, it certainly isn't supposed to be limited rare records that are also underplayed……we should have added quality in there too LOL.

In a nutshell you will hear all three combinations of the phrase on any given night at the Ukrainian Club; ‘Rare’ (but not for rarities sake) ‘Underplayed’ (but not because they’re not good enough) and of course ‘Rare & Underplayed’ but, all with one eye on the dancefloor.

We don’t have a music ‘policy’, all our residents & guests are free to express themselves as they wish, which we believe adds to the magic. So simply expect a great night of quality soul music if you ever get the chance to join us at our friendly little club.

    Well I did say Our Ashton Ukrainian Mid Summer Equinox had the internet positively crackling in Anticipation, so much so the Soul-Source event page thread for the event has blown a fuse!! Temporary Glitch I'm sure, normal service will be resumed real soon!!

    Meanwhile Guy Hennigan has proved to be the original Pied Piper of the scene, with lots and lots making their way to the North West for the event, no brainer really!!

    Lots of travellers from The North Wales Coast to support Steve Thomas , hope the bar can cope lol. Seriously a real feast of Rare Soul awaits on Saturday June 21st.

    Phil Dunn will be opening up the proceedings for those wanting to ensure a table, in the best atmosphere around.

    Ashton G.O.A.T Chris Churm and Team Ukrainian Press Officer Mick Howard complete a line up worthy of the event!!

    The night runs 7pm-00.30 and just £6 admission pay on the door(how do we do it?) Don't forget the Lounge/Bar Area is the place for Record Dealers and vinyl hounds, sniffing out the elusive bargain!!

    We're expecting a busy night, so please arrive early, to get in on the action. All those people who have us on their radar and yet to visit, what are you waiting for!!

    Our Resident Personal Trainer/Drummer and Whirling Dervish on the dancefloor Stu AKA Shovel, is taking a well earned night off from his extensive tour of The North West to join us, such is the pull of Club 101 and Guy Hennigan. Folk travelling from far and wide to join us, sounds like a good night, might try it myself !!

    We're into the last few days, in the lead up to our Mid Summer Soul Spectacular at Ashton Ukrainian Club.

    This Saturday June 21st on Summer Equinox, we welcome the unstoppable force that is Guy Hennigan behind the decks for his debut set. So many people looking forward to this event and rightly so!!

    Add to that North Wales Finest Steve Thomas hurtling down the A55/M56 to be with us, always a great night with the Welsh crowd in attendance!!!

    The North West and Ashton Ukrainian Club is hot,hot,hot!! We are primed and ready for our Mid Summer Soulful Equinox, this Saturday June 21st. With a real special line up for The Ashton Faithful!!

    Guy Hennigan has a few new 45s to showcase, along with the evergreens from the Halcyon days of TOTW, Tony's, Shotts and many more!!

    With Steve Thomas and The North Wales Posse in The House, it's sure to be a memorable night for the assembled masses!!

    Incredible feedback for this event, with I'm sure a who's who of scene faces in attendance!!

    Phil Dunn will be opening the proceeding as we hit the ground running with Team Ukrainian residents Chris Churm and Mick Howard taking care of your business for the early part of the night!!

    The night runs 7pm-00.30 and just £6 admission pay on the door.

    The lounge/bar area doubles as a chillout/record bar area and a great place to catch up and swap stories from the halcyon days.

    We have our in house sound system to pipe the music in from the main room, so you won't miss a beat!!

    This is looking to be a busy one, so early arrival is recommended to get your table in the main room.

    The Weekend is finally here, our Mid Summer Soulstice is on the horizon. Really looking forward to Guy Hennigan's Ashton debut. This sounded rather good on Dean Anderson's "sound of soul " show last night and hoping to hear it bouncing out of the speakers at Ashton Ukrainian!!
