Back in September i sold a Ronnie Dyson - Lady in red on ebay. As with all my ebay sales, 99p kick off, no reserve. It made £46.

Did the buyer pay up? No. So i sent several reminders. No reply. I then said if you don't pay me, i'll give you a bad feedback. Then i got a reply ( i've deleted all names except mine ):-

hi ady

there was a mis hap, ***** my good lady bid $25 for it not knowing it was buy it now

which i think you had £45 on which is tinch to high

I'm not sure of your rights to payment under these circumstances. Of course, if he bid he should pay, but how legally binding his bidding was is another matter and might cost more in legal fees than a good chunk of your sale list - you really should be directing your enquiries to Ebay and see what they say :thumbsup:

Got to ebay's front page, click 'advanced search' under search and put in the number.

When the pages comes up, you can copy and paste the page's address / link

It's quite clear it was not a Pay Now item - there are quite a number of bids :thumbsup:

Whoever it is he probably didn't want two copies - looks like he bought it from somebody else instead!!!!!!!!!!!! :thumbsup:

Yes, that was rather naughty. He should have paid up whether it was his wife's fault or not. She should have forfeited a new Christian Dior lippy that week as a punishment :thumbsup:

It could easily have been a mix up I suppose if it was his good lady. You know what women are like with computers!! :D:thumbsup::D:(:D

Tried that mate, didn't get a reply.

2005 is a very expensive year in which to discover 'modden'!! :thumbsup:

You either accept his explanation and move on, or you leave bad feedback.

Looks like you're not happy with his response (and I wouldn't be either - it certainly looks on the face of it that he's got one cheaper so dropped yours - he should pay up and then resell it - yours is in better nick than the one he got anyway).

I've made some proper silly purchases when I've been drunk but you simply have to bite the bullet.

There's no point in having an ebay without feedback. And no point in having feedback if people don't use it properly.

Leaving retaliatory negative feedback is against eBay rules and he'll get a warning if he does it - you'll get the negative feedback removed and all your fees refunded. They actually do listen these days.

Problem is mischief, ebay have now made it such a long drawn out process to recoup your fee's, as in this case. They dont want to lose their commission, come what may. They even suggested ME calling the buyer!!

Ok you say the person comes on here, if they do read this thread maybe they could at least offer to pay the fees, then you could resell the record... not the ideal solution I admit but at least you are not out of pocket.. You know they aren't going to pay in full now any way..... maybe they could get there wife to pay it :thumbsup:

Maybe Ebay who own Paypal could change the payment process and automatically deduct the payment from the PayPal account of the winning bidder!

Naah, it's a piece of cake now.

In the drop down list next to the item in your "My ebay" you select "Open unpaid item dispute" Then ebay email the bidder to request payment.

If after a week they haven't paid you can close the dispute and get your fees back.

Ady, up north, we would just chin em'.......

loke andy said we all make mistakes if i bid on something then i either buy it or contact the seller tell him i made a mistake and then pay his fees. it is only fair.

Go through the correct channels to get your money back AND leave the negative feedback. If your rating is good, people see that it's an obvious retaliatory comment left in return. I've had the same trouble with 'littlemoscow'. I paid immediately, waited 3 weeks, sent two reminders, then after E bay got involved they decided to refund my money and tell me the item was no longer in stock. (A re-issue 7").

I gave them a neutral feedback and they returned one. They've had 33 negatives this year. I've had none. You can see straight away who's wrong. Be bold and shame them.

I've read this thread as its developed and theres a couple of things I don't understand:

1. If the situation is as you've described, why don't you sort it as Andy suggested rather than going on about it here? Andy is right...the mechanism is in place.

2. What is the point in saying the alleged defaulter is a big name DJ and uses this site if you are not prepared to name him? Smacks of small time sensationalism.

3. Someone has copied across the bidding history for this item....why? I know one of the under-bidders... they don't come on SS, and they are, ahem, less than pleased that their ebay activities have been posted up on here.

1. I am doing, but does that excuse the fact that people do this? Bid on items & then not honour their bid?. Before you click on the "place your bid" button, it explains without any confusion that it's a binding contract that you are entering. Sadly, this happens a lot & sellers are not given a chance to voice their feeling's regarding this, other than leaving bad feedback. And as i have said before, if you leave a bad feedback the buyer can leave the same in retaliation. Then it's a long process of appealing to ebay to try & get that negative removed.

2. I'm very prepared to name him, but once that's been done, where does that leave me? It leaves me without my money & no bargaining power. This may well smack of small time sensationalism to you Dave, but then i don't suppose you do this for your living. This isn't a hobby of mine, this is my full time job.

3. I can't see how anyone has been compromised in any way. All the information regarding bid's is on full view to the public. You can view their feedback history, what they've bid on, what they didn't win. But sadly, the only thing you can't view, is what they didn't pay up on.

That was me confirming it was won by bidding quashing the winners arguement that it was a 'buy now' deal.

If they don't come on here how did they know about it? :huh: The information I cut and pasted was public information on a public domain, available to anyone that wishes to look at it. If he's that private perhaps he should conduct his sales and purchases in other ways rather than on the most public domain in the whole wide world :huh:

That would mean them changing all their agreements cos you cant deduct money without prior permission. And would only work if the person had credit in their paypal account.

Big Name DJ? He should be getting the far superior version by Chris DeBurgh :D

I thought of that after I posted Dave :huh: It would be possible if they gave prior warning about the change being made from a particular date. Only trouble is, it would push out those that didn't have credit or debit facilities - but who cares :D I don't have credit on my paypal account but I have a debit and credit card on it for payments.

I think you should have sorted it with the said person first and see what was going on before coming on here about it .... lots of people make mistakes on ebay (i for one don't use it) ...... think you should of waited for a response first and then if not happy with reply or lack of reply then have a bit of a moan. The item in question sold on the 15th September, i didn't get a response until 20th October, when i said i'd leave him bad feedback if he didn't pay up. So in other words, he wasn't in any way interested until it was going to have an adverse affect on himself. Would have thought this would have been long enough to respond.

This should in no way give any other d.j's nervous twitches, as they weren't involved in the auction.
