Sorry, meant to say.....not heard about this film, perhaps a serious attempt at portraying the superb musical talents of the artists and the undying devotion of their followers?,no?

My Husband bought me the original SWofNS last Christmas. I was excited and promptly put it on. What a let down - not the information but the cheesy porn way it had been put together and the pow pow pow backing tracks to the songs. Very amature. Having said that, I will probably buy the 2nd volume because curiosity will get the better of me. I just hope the producer realises the mistakes made in the original one and produce something a wee bit more professional.

Don't think the 'producer' does mistakes!!

SWONS was apparently always intended to start with Dean Parrish but for various reasons he never got filmed.

In the meantime, if anyone has about a year and a half to two years to spare, around a hundred grand (absolute, absoulute minimum and that doesn't include the producers (me) fee) the chemical formula that turns lead into gold and a time machine plus the co operation of everyone we want to involve we can get our heads together and make the SWONS film everyone thinks should have existed.

In the meantime, to use the logical argument against the likes of people like Mary Whitehouse, no one actually has to watch it if they don't want to.

swons2 is this some kind of halloween joke? oh the horror!

In the meantime, if anyone has the chemical formula that turns lead into gold

I have that. Send me a couple of grand & I'll share it with you.

I know what you're saying... we're all knocking it but can't do better ourselves. I thought the content was great, it was just the flimsy and ridiculous way special effects were used and the bomtempi organ music arrangements. It would have been better to have them sing over the top of the original track to be honest.

Of course we have to watch it... we're curious

''apparently'' the reason why the soundtrack was done that way was cos it would have cost way too much to licence the original recordings ( apparently ) so the stupid drum machines were used as this was the only financial way it could be done. That said, there was a CD put out that had tracks from the video and they were done the same way, I think Kev Roberts had something to do with it ( apologies if wrong ) so maybe it was a case of trying to recoup some monies,if so I guess he will answer that himself.basically. YES THE MUSIC IS CRAP .....................and the film, but fools and their money are easily parted.I bought one mind

Trouble is, you don't know about the musical disaster until you 'have' parted with your money

I can't believe we're going through this again, is it Groundhog Day? I think that Ian Levine set himself an impossible task. I can see what he was trying to do. It didn't really work.

You got paid for producing that Simon! :D:lol:

Are you actually saying that you think the criticism is not valid for this film, and if so are you saying people shouldnt't criticise? I for one am glad on all the crits as it stopped me buying it.

Oops ! Didn't mean to suggest I'd produced SWONS (I'd do it differently honest! )

But if someone wants to do another one......

Not at all Jocko- I think reasoned critisism of something is ok. And this is a discussion board and I think we're discussing it?

I had a similar thing recently elsewhere about "Standing In The Shadows" which IMO is great in parts but IMO is ruined by the mostly awful perfomances by contemporary artists. Saying why I didn't like it didn't go down well and it was almost as if I'd advocated eating children.. But I don't dismiss "Shadows" totally because I don't like part of it.

The same goes for SWONS- it has MAJOR faults but the essence is great-IMO. I think the flaws in SWONS in part at least reflect the strangeness of the Northern Soul phenomemon. But I wouldn't dismiss anything with out experiencing it for myself first.

Damn these smileys....
