Without exception, I love every one & they all hold dear memories, but this has always blown me away from first hearing Ady blast it out at the legendary venue, probably not that well known outside of the 100 Club even tho it appeared on the Kent Crossover CD - having said that, played loud & proud in a venu it takes on a completely different ambience.........

Don't remember where I read it but it was just recently*. I think it was Ady who said they credited it to George Jackson as this most likely but eventually it turned out wasn't him. Real artists remains unknown.

* edit: might have been the liner notes to the brilliant "Deep Shadows" compilation on Kent. Where's Ady when you need him. Can somebody please switch on the Ady-sign?

There have been 79 schools of thought on the George Jackson issue and it's been on and off ever since it came out. However ony rouce and Dean Rudland played it to George when they met him and he said he wasn't on lead but is on the backing vocals, so he's there somewhere. He couldn't remember who the lead was.

I agree with Russ about the Judy Clay and also believe its flip, Johnny Taylor's version of Please Let Me In is magnificent too, both sides could go massive one day.

We're pretty lucky to have the chance to own these tracks on vinyl. Thinking back to the Hopkins Brothers thread imagine what a set of exclusives these would be if never issued and how much longevity they'd have as one-offs.

So many great ones but a special mention to Chuck Jackson, Carla Thomas and The San Francisco TKOs. Taken together as a whole it's a wonderful testament to the club, its promoter and the taste of the crowd.

The diplomats is another I always enjoy when it crops up on the ipod.

Done a few cd's for friends ike and Tina stuff and both came back with the Charmaines idolize you.

"This man's arms" does it for me always makes me stop and listen,but what an incredible legacy all the singles are.

There can only be one, Carla Thomas, its just so symbiotic to and symbolic of the nights there and more than any of the others it just makes me think of the place pounding and sweating, just like the 100 Club at its greatest always did.

I adopted it for Allanton and it was a storm there, but it was only ever a friendly loan, you had to hear it down those steps to realise just how much you loved that place, that record and the time you were dancing to it. Special.

At moment can't imagine going back but it really is a special place and the thought of just one more time dancing to that record there still has me tingling nervously with anitcipation enough to say maybe just one more time!

Played the Garland Green yesterday through my 3 way speaker system and it gets remixed into a more stunning version Wow!
